Photoshop allows you to save files in .psd format, which lets you go back and edit the picture as needed. I usually use this option because I'm the kind of person who makes 3274972139847291384 mistakes when typing in Korean. (or English, for that matter. ;____;) So I save my files in both .psd and .png formats, so that I can go back and edit all my pics. OH RIGHT. To save an image in .psd format, you just... When you go to save your picture, there should be a dropdown menu of A LOT of extension types. (i.e. .bmp, .gif, etc.) You select the option that says .psd. (I'm not sure what the name of it is... Something like Photoshop Optimized... Yeh.) Then you name your picture. I'm pretty sure that this option goes WAY back in Photoshop versions, because I used to have 3.0 and I could still save it in .psd.
^ As for jwhluv, I was wondering that myself. I know that it's filters... That's what everyone tells me. But then what I want to know is how to do it, then they say to mess around. Like, it's helpful to play around with the filters, but then it'd be helpful if there was a guideline to "filtering".
I apologize if my .psd thing has been mentioned before?
EDIT:
I'm not sure if this question was answered.
right now i am making an icon on photoshop. while i am working on it in photoshop, the icon's colors look perfectly fine (like, they are the colors that i picked out and the same shade of colors that i chose for the icon)... then after i finished making the icon and saved it in .gif format... and i open it in outside of photoshop to view, the color shades come out darker than what i originally chose.
it happens for everything i make now in photoshop. everytime i save something that i made in photoshop, the shades look differently from what they were originally supposed to be...
does that make more sense?
Okay, I think I understand what you're trying to say. When you said ".gif", I was like, "I GOT IT." The same thing happens to me. My theory is that when saved in .gif format, the image converts itself into Indexed color. A solution for this problem would be to change the extension type (.gif to .png?) OR if you HAVE to save it in .gif, go to "Save For Web". (File> Save For Web)
That's what I've figured out from personal experience. Like, I'd save an AIM icon or something that was animated in .gif, and then when I opened the .gif file, the colors would look weird. So now I use .png or "Save For Web".

Hmm...Just the layer Pallette? It's quite simple. But here's a guide for you.

^That's the problem though...
People ask for "Tutorial for filtering," and what they don't know is that there is sooooo many filters.
The other problem is that those who know how to do it, won't do it. It's like their secret skill and they don't want to share it. T____T
Someone should share it since A LOT of people are asking how to do it.

What you can do is have 2 layers. On the top layer, you have the heart, on the bottom, you have the photo. You just use the erase tool, and erase the edge of the bottom picture layer. That's how I'd do it.

You can lower the quality of it...like in photoshop, as you save it, it pops open a window. You lower the quality there.
You can also try saving it a different format: GIF, JPG, PNG, BMP, etc.

Hi! Took these steps from my GIF animation tutorial:
18) Now, we must get the settings right so we can save it. On your GIF window, click on "Optimized". Then on your Optimize tab (if you don't see it, go to Windows > Optimize), click on all those arrows to drop down all the options. (Please scroll down for an screen cap if you are totally confused.)
This is the very tricky and very disappointing stage.
GIF can only hold 256 colors so if your banner and GIF is very colorful (like mines
Make sure the Format is in "GIF." The rest, you must play around with to get it right for you. Everyone has their own taste, so choose it to how you like it.
This was my setting for my GIF banner:

19) After pulling your hair out with step 18, we are ready to save!! Go to File > Save Optimize As, pick your location, name it, and save it.

When you save, you save it as Save optimized. File > Save Optimized.

there should be an html file in the folder. double click on that, move your mouse around until desired effect, then screencap it.
please help!! thank you!! ^__^
that is photomanipulation. depends how "real" you want the image to look, it can be simple or difficult. google "photo manipulation tutorials" and you should get some helpful links. i'll be back in a few days w/ a tutorial.
