Does anyone know a good program to make blinkies. It takes me way too long to do it in Imageready O_O

I perfer using Animation shop, its easier..o.o
you dont have to deal with the layer thing

SWeeT_CANDii
you can do it a number of ways...a simple way is to use the brush tool
first, make a new layer above your oringal picture
set your foreground color to either black or whie(doesnt matetr which)..set your layer to "color" in the blend modes
and brush the parts you want to be B+w, and if you acidently color a part you want to be in color, just use the eraser tool

cherish_love
please credit the icon, and what do you want to know?the overall icon?or the textures?or the coloring?

credits to black.pearl ]: i read espece's post a few pages back it sort of helped but what i'm wondering is like how do you get it colored like in the example i reposted do you have to keep making color layers while filtering? o.o Also if i want thinner lines i could just play with shear and twirl right? Sorry to bother >.<

Also :/ Whenever i make banners i make them the proper size for soompi: 300x100 but how can i make it like under 40 KB? Does it have anything to do with the brushes etc you use and layers you have before you're done with it?

Wow, finally this question was brought up. This is a very good question. What is the difference between coloring and colorizing? Here is what I know so far:

[+] Coloring - improving the colors
This is very common on icons but also for making your base looking better. Let say you want to make a colored icon. You open your image and crop it to 100x100 px. You don't make it black&white; you keep it as it is. By using the adjustment menu and different blending options, you will get a colored icon.
For this example, I took a pic from veer - cropped it - duplicated it three times - changed blending options to screen and softlight - adjustment menu - selection colors. And just like filtering, you play around with the amount until you're happy with the results. Usually, you'll see when the colors are right happy.gif.

[+] Colorizing - changing the colors
This is a tecnique that requires patient; finding the right colors can be really painful. You open your image and make it black&white. Then you start making new layer and set it to color and find the right/nice color to use. The pick a round brush to use (which brush to use is up to you) This step can be repeated.
As you can see, the example is really ugly and I only did two parts because I don't want to spend time on picking a nice color for the skin and other parts. This takes time so don't get all worked up because the result isn't nice.

[+] Questions or opinions on these things?

Oooo.. is that so? hmmm... so basically what i did usually is called colouring? Huhu~ and the one i tried using black and white is clolourising? Hmm... interesting. I thought colouring = colourising... sweatingbullets.gif

Yeah, thanks for answering. Well at least i got an idea about this thing. Will be back with more question, ph34r.gif adios. smile.gif

For your first question, you can just use hue or color balance or variations
In filtering, there are no "dos or donts"...or in graphic desing..just try it..and try to get an effect you want, you can always undo it XD
if you want to make it under 40kb save it for web,(file>Save for Web) you can easily adjust it closest to 40kb without it being uber LQ

um..i was reading and how do make your image black or white?

-you could make a new layer, fill it with black and set as color
-or if you just want it for one layer without all the hassle, theres a desaturate option in Image>Adjustments>Desaturate

My first time writing a icon tut...or coloring tut..so i hope I can make this clear.
I open my picture:
http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/7808/yunho2jq0.jpg
Credits to soompi korean celeb photos
I randomly crop it any way I desire

TA DAH!MY BASE:

1)make a new layer and fill with #fdc489, and orangey color, and set it on color burn
I end up with this:

2)Duplicate the oringal layer(with Uknow)
drag it to the top, and set it as screen with opacity:70%

3)Make a new Adjustment layer by clicking that half white and half black icon on the bottom of your layers window and going u to new selctive layer
Settings:Relative:
-Red:
C:72
M:0
Y:24
B:17

-Neutrals:
C:-37
M:+2
Y:+16
B:-34

4)Make a new Brigthness/Contrast adjustment layer
Settings:
Brightness:-94
Contrast:-30

5)Make a new Levels Adjustment layer
with these settings:

6)Merge visible(Layer>Merge Visible)
7)Duplicate that layer
8)set it to Screen:46%
9)Make a new color balance adjusment layer
settings:

10) here comes the hard part
make a new layer fill it with #79ccc9 and set it to lighten
Select the entire layer(Select>All)
and then Edit>Copy Merged
then paste your new layer(Ctrl+V)
delete the solid color layer from the beginning on this step
Set the merged layer on Color burn

11)ok, now the hard part is over
Paste the texture below and set blend mode to Darken
http://i16.tinypic.com/6cwz89d.jpg
^Credits: to autoplay I belive..coreect me if I am wrong.
use the eraser tool to erase the texture parts cover Uknow's face
So Far:

12)Pasted this texture on Lighten 100%

^credits to myself

13)
I put this layer on screen mode:100%
texture credits to myself

So far:

14)
I paste the texture below and set blend mode to screen 100%

^forgot where I got this texture.if somebody knows..please tell me so I can give proper credit

15)and then add some text wand add a tiny text brush..and..TA DAH!

^Sorry, the seult wasnt exactl like my other one becuase I deleted the psd..T.T
hope its clear enough

By using the edit menu you can rotate or make the lines smaller or whatever you want. Or by disort a quite few more times and get the thin lines and then erase out the parts you do not want there. Like lilchan said, there is no do or do not when it comes to filtering. Like I always said, play around.

I am not a english expert but I guess psers used the two terms to easily understand each other.
You are welcome with your questions.

^Each icon varies..but I think she uses exclusion layers and selective coloring a lot...and blue color burn layers
I think you should look at her mems in her livejournal

You can look the first post for indx of tutorial.
Now I don't know how the makeup really looks like, so if you post a pic, maybe I can write a simple tutorial to improve it for you.
