Anyone can say that it's blending, but it's not clean at all. When you blend pictures together, you shouldn't be able to see the lines -- In this case, you should not be able to see the lines around the guy's and girl's pictures. Blendings are smooth and clean -- almost like all the pictures blended together was just one picture.

then, how bout this 1.. my 2nd attempt ----> tears.gif

OK, that's it, HAHA.

like Muddie said all your answers can be found in this thread. Please check the indexes on the first page before asking your questions. And you can probably get the desired effects of 2 and 3 the same way.

I think I know what you're doing. From the look of your sample, it seems like you're just playing with the "Blending Mode" options (e.g., Overlay, Color Dodge, etc.; whatever it is you used). The attempt is better than the last, and you are technically blending, so good job.

I think what some other people refer to as blending is when you take two or more images and make them look like they were one image. Whereas that is "blending" in an artistic definition, what I see that you've done is "blending" in a technical definition.

Anyway, that aside, however you want your final image to look is up to you. If you're satisfied with it (or if your boss or teacher is satisfied with it), then that's all that should matter at this point.

Its okay, you still still need to work with the opacity and such and the whole image as a graphic seems too busy. Maybe work with just one or two images and practice your blending, then add more to it.

How do I get the effect of the underlying bright blue shadow beneath Yunho's image after using the pen tool to crop him out? I tried using the paper doll cut out effect but it did not give the wanted result. O_O

What I suggest is to cut out the person (not paper cutout but fully trim the shape/object). Once that is done (and is on its own layer) use the Layer Properties dialog box to add a Drop Shadow. In the Drop Shadow options, change the color to the turquoise/teal/blue you want (or whatever color) and also change the Blending Mode of the drop shadow to Normal. That should be it for a simple colored drop shadow.

Play with the spread, distance, size, etc. if you want to make it look different.

There are plenty of ways to "delete" parts of an image in PS. The eraser is one. The one I prefer using is to make a selection of the foreground (using any method: Pen-->Selection, Lasso, Magic Wand, etc.) and using "Select Inverse" and then pressing Delete. (Actually, I always duplicate the layer before I do this in case I want the original.)

You should be able to find a few tutorials on how to separate foreground and background in the index. (I know there are a number on making the background into grayscale and selective coloring that may be useful for what you want to do.) For the Pen tool, also check the index--there is one tutorial in there with an added Pen tool mini-tutorial. The lasso works just like any other selection tool.

First place to look really to find out what tools do is your Photoshop help file (F1). Search the help index for the tool and a number of articles should show up.

no, actually, ive been reading some of your tutorials and ive been helped a lot to get a head start.
i really am a noob, so reading your tuts helped me get around ps and understand what some of the tools do.
thanks a lot for that (:

right now, though im having trouble with text. well, not exactly trouble, i just want to make them a bit nicer.
i was wondering how to make the text like what shy-Love did here?
(credits to shy-Love, naturally)
like, the text fade-ish into the background. another example; x

and also, i am wondering how people make the little icon placer thingys, like the one stupidfactory made. or __JBM*.
the way i do it is icon by icon, putting it into a bigger canvas.
is there a faster way?

btw i have elements, which doesn't have some of the tools the regular ones does.
i think thats been mentioned before though. (:

thanks again. (:

I see you're using a Windows-based computer, so try holding CTRL and clicking on the individual layers that you want to collect. That should hopefully work in place of using Shift.

First of all, I'm so glad that you were just joking with the first part of your comment.

Secondly, I think shy-Love can best answer your question. Just wait a moment and shy-Love will come back into this thread. Personally I would use a gradient mask if it's supposed to "fade" into the background, or even play with the blending options/modes.

From what I know, and from what I remember someone saying, the answer is NO. What I suggest is to create your own template (i.e., use the Guides and set them up to take icons that are 100x100px). Using guides makes dragging and dropping icons easier on a larger canvas.

If I am reading this correctly, the one way I can think of duplicating this is by using Adobe Illustrator because it has the 3D effect you may be looking for under Effects on the menu bar.

It was in the index. There's just more than one index you have to look through. The first page has a link to Tailo's complete list of tutorials from this thread.
Here's the link for eye-color manipulation from the index:

you could use this website
upload your icons, add the links in, generate, and then take a screen print of the page.

Hi my questions about how you colourize. (Like in the avatars/banners that they make or the music videos)
I know its got to do with selective colour and adding new fill layers then playing around with layer blending.
But if its possible can someone teach me about this. Coz I'm pretty new to it. I read somewhere that it also depends on the original colour of the photo, then you can decide whether to do the purples or reds or blues and yellows.
Or are we just supposed to play around with it.

I've looked through the tutorials here but none seemed to fit what I was looking for

Thank you smile.gif
