i am here at this thread today,
to ask for some help with photoshop.
recently, i've signed up at a super
junior forum. xD
i was reading one of the tutorials &i thought
this graphic looked amazing.
how do you achieve this effect?
[ i know the basics of the pen tool ; etc ]
i just need help with this.
[credit to hang08 from SJFullHouse for the graphic. n_n]
how do you make the swirls?
i know how to make the ones that they
have on paint-pop, but not these.
if anyone has time, would you please make a tutorial for this?
thank you in advance.
another thing i'd like to ask is ;
how do you make the blurry effect
in the back of the word "jaejoong" ;
in the picture i provided?
thanks in advance(:

Well, it is working, but I can't open a layer.
Nothing will open, even if I went to open> and clicked on a picture.
It wouldn't appear.
Help?
&Somehow, my brushes seem slow.
They won't appear the first time I click.
They only appear after like 5x the clicking.

Try separating them into separate sets.
'Edit>Preset Manager'
Select a group of similar brushes (select multiple brushes with the Ctrl or Shift key held down).
Then click 'Save set'.
Name your set, and save it in your Custom Brushes folder.
Don't hit 'Done' yet.
While the previous set you just saved is still highlighted, hit the 'Delete' button. (you're not actually deleting them).
Select your next set of brushes and save, and so on.
I've ended up with Brush sets called 'Abstract' 'Grunge' 'Vector Shapes' 'Splatters & Splashes' 'Sparkles', etc.
So when you want a particular type of brush, just hit the little flyout menu, and load the appropriate brush set.
When you load a new brush set, Photoshop should ask you if you want to 'Append' or 'Replace' your brushes.
Append means to add the new brush set to the brushes you already have opened. Replace means...well, it replaces all the brushes with the new set.
Replacing the brushes each time you load a new set keeps the number of brushes down and helps Photoshop use memory better.

AVI files are not all the same.
'.avi' is a file type, yes. But it's actually just a container for many different types of video/audio.
You'll need to work with video files that your version of ImageReady and the media 'codecs' (encoder/decoder for various video formats like mpeg/divx/xvid/blahblah) you have installed on your computer can handle. Or find out which codecs you need, and install them.
It's all about matching one thing with the other. That's all.

The abstract swirls can easily be downloaded from all over the place as Custom Brushes to save yourself a bit of time. But if you're the 'make it from scratch' type, there are a few tutorials and links to such topics on the front page of this thread. There are a bazillion different ways to make them, so take your pick.
As for the text blur, that's quite simple. I'm surprised that you know how to work the Pen tool, but a simple thing like 'Motion Blur' escapes you.
Duplicate the Text layer.
Rasterize the bottom of the two text layers (Right click the layer>Rasterize Type').
Stay on this layer.
'Filter>Blur>Motion Blur'.
0 Degrees. Adjust distance and Layer Opacity to taste.
Depending on the background, you could also try changing the Blending Mode of this layer for added effect.

Read what you just typed, and see if it makes any sense to you.
And if it does, please explain it to the rest of us.
Thanks.

For the ones with the blacked-out areas, just place the original image as the bottom layer, then place the "frame" layer above it. Now go to Layer > Add Layer Mask > Show All. Take your Magic Wand and select the black area. Now take the Paint Bucket and use Black to fill that selected area. It should look like it disappeared and the image underneath should show up. Select the bottom layer on the Layers Palette and choose the Move tool. Now adjust the bottom image to appear within the frame.
For the ones without the blacked-out area, place the original image on top. You'll have to cut out the person using one of the tutorials here as a guide. (It's mostly just deleting the background, which could be ridiculously easy or ridiculously difficult.) Use one of the "blending" tutorials here. It's under the "Multiple Images" category. There are also some icon/banner tutorials that do the same thing.

I don't think it's so much the coloring as it is the lighting. If you go to Edit > Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast and lower the brightness or contrast, it should give the more subtle color look.

'Edit>Preset Manager'
Select a group of similar brushes (select multiple brushes with the Ctrl or Shift key held down).
Then click 'Save set'.
Name your set, and save it in your Custom Brushes folder.

Replacing the brushes each time you load a new set keeps the number of brushes down and helps Photoshop use memory better.
oops i think i worded it wrong. there are like to many brush folders. so most of my brush folders show but not like T-Z.

There are a few tutorials on the first page that use "selective coloring" or something like that. There are also a few tutorials about making the background black and white (or desaturated). They're all in the "Color" category.

First, how, do I remove the watermark in certain pictures? Errr, people usually put those siggy in the pictures to prevent others from stealing their pics. I just want to learn how to remove it.
Second, thx a lot for the photoshop tutorial. However, are those tutorials applicable for GIMP 2??
Thx!!
