I've been trying to make some gifs, but whenever I open up my MPEG file in ImageReady, this message will pop up:

IPB Image

Anyone able to help?

First question: Do you have Quicktime 7 installed? (If yes, try going back to Quicktime 6).

Second question: Were you ever able to import MPEG files into ImageReady? I'm reading everywhere about it supporting AVI and MOV files, but nothing about MPEG/MPG. Either way, make sure it's a video format that ImageReady can support.

Single pixel stroke.
Layer Mode set to 'Dissolve'.
Lower Opacity for more dramatic effect.

can it ? i unsure.gif f an image has scanlines, i don't think there is a way to remove it. If I work with a graphic and add scanlines and save it in psd-fromat, next time i open it, i can remove it. BUt if I save it as jpg or something. mellow.gif

Maybe there is something wrong with your scanner..or the image

I get scanlines, too. But when I resize my images, they become less obvious. I dunno, would setting it to a higher resolution help?

Post the image in question so we can get a better idea of what you mean by 'scanlines'.

Muddie put up a 'Blinky' tutorial quite awhile ago.
Unfortunately, she doesn't use ImageReady (which comes with Photoshop).
But if you can get your hands on (or if you already have) Animation Shop, you should be able to follow along. It's a pretty extensive look at making blinkies (animations), so pay close attention.
She covers pretty much everything from creating a nice looking graphic to animating individual elements.
I'm not a big gif animation fan, so I'll leave it up to those who are more interested in it to contribute further if need be.

Good luck.

uhm mellow.gif about the border thingy from akemi's poster.. jasonyc, you said single pixel stroke and dissolve and then lower opacity..well, i did that and it didn't work =__=^

do i have to like, merge all layers first then duplicate the layer THEN use the stroke? and what's the stroke's location? (inside, center, or outside)

wahhh i am soo stupid please help me!! TT^TT

1. Choose the Rectangular Marquee tool (you're not going to use this tool, but a step requires that you have it selected).

2. Create a new blank layer.

3. Ctrl+A (Win)/Cmd+A (Mac) to select the entire canvas.

4. Right click inside the selection (anywhere in the image), and choose 'Stroke' from the context menu (this is where you need to have the Marquee Tool selected - many other tools will work also, but some do not give you the 'Stroke' option in the context menu).

5. Set to 1px/Inside/whatever color you want (try black first).

6. Set the Layer Mode to 'Dissolve'.

7. Play with the opacity (50% works well for me).

I don't think there are any tutorials on how to use filters (well, maybe there are but I really haven't seen any). I reckon with filters, the trick is to fool around with them until you get something you like..

IPB Image IPB Image IPB ImageIPB Image
Do you guys know what I mean. THEY look diffretn from most grapics like IDK how to explain it
Credits:amber@shcj and Dolce

i think the 2nd icon (the blue one) is basicly a light blue gradient set to lighten =)
and the others... you mean the coloring effect?
otherwise, they made use of a lot of different brushes, border brushes to be excat, mainly.

(will post some more if i got any ideas...)

EDIT
for the blue one.. maybe it's set to "screen".... sorry if i didn't help much!

it's the brushes you're talking about? those are whirly, decorative brushes. kind of easy to get online, almsot every brush site got something like that.

what i think is:
filled the background with pink (obviously...)
decorate it with the brushes
and cut the picture (the rabbit in this case) put it on the top of the brush layer
line tool for the blog.

*the 'links' are there, you'll have to know image map to code that.
so simply type the location with the Type tool.*

the instructions might not be very clear... so.. ask or let jasonyc answers you. hehe

There's a lot going on in that image.
Can you be more specific about what you're having trouble with?
ie: 'I can't make the outline on the rabbit.' 'I can't make the swirls.' 'I can't stop eating Sour Apple Mentos.'
