hey guys~!
I am planning on buying a scanner (mainly to scan artwork rather than photo or film) and my professors recommend me epson scanner... I was browsing around for reviews and prices and there is a refurbished epson photo scanner... I was wondering if using a photo scanner will affect my drawings and art work.

well im not printer or scanner savvy....but about 4 months ago I bought a HP PSC 1510 All-In-One scanner copier and printer (with Pictbridge and photo-printing too). All of the things that I have scanned so far have been perfect. I scanned a picture from one of my magazines and it looked just as good as it did on the mag page.
Plus it was only about $100.

i am addicted to scanning
i've scanned over 4000 pictures in the last 3 months T_T
from what i've used and from what my friends have experienced...
EPSON is the way to go x:
I LOVE MY EPSON scanner!
for like $100 you can get a REALLY decent scanner
to add on if you do photography it'll scan your negatives as well
my first epson scanner i had for like 4 years and it was still going strong
but it got stolen, so i got a new epson scanner
and i lvoe it x:
but i guess i'm biased since i only use epson... T_T

Yeah ... I suggest you try getting a All-in-one.
You get a printer, scanner, copier, and MAYBE fax if you put a little more money in.
I got a HP Photosmart C3100 Series All-in-One for just $70, on sale from $120 I think.
I like it alot.

I have an HP Scanjet 4370 that I got for $120. It's not an all in one, but it's still a really nice scanner and scans very well, it scans negatives, slides, and regular photos.

i have an all in one HP printer and honestly the scans aren't that great especially when i scan sticker pictures, polaroids, etc. but i'm sure artwork would be okay...

if u want a good quality scanner i suggest u NOT get an all-in-one
if u want a mediocre something....u get the all in one
if u want a mediocre something....u get the all in one

Yeah, I'm guessing if you use an all-in-one, it will differ in quality from an actual scanner. If you already have a decent printer/copier, etc. then there's no point in getting it.
As for me though, I have a Lexmark PrinTrio (scanner/copier/printer), which is fine for me cause I usually only print, but the other two are there for convenience

The same reason to get a scanner as me.
I use it to scan the drafts and sketches I did and then color them in Corel Painter or Photoshop with a wacom tablet. I'm using an HP All-In-One Photosmart C3180 (It's FREE after debate cuz I got it with my Mac~~) It works fine for me cuz that's only for drafts. Anyway I'm going to color them so the quality doesn't really matter.
But if you want some decent scanner in order to make copies of completed artworks (not for computer graphic), you'd better not get all-in-ones.
