I'm learning Spanish first year and I want to pratice my listening skill.

Anybody knows any good spanish songs except Shakira (Not too fond of her voice and other mainstream spanish singers in America, no thanks), genre like pop, r&b, rock and no rap, metal or any hardcore stuff... I would like to hear traditional spanish music too if they have them.

Chingon. They did songs for movies like Once Upon a Time in Mexico and Kill Bill vol. 2. They're rock, and they're really fun to listen to. The band was started by Robert Rodriguez (director of Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Desperado, Sin City, Spy Kids movies etc.), and I think he plays guitar in the band.
There was nothing to fear,
and nothing to doubt.

if your going to listen to spanish music you have to listen to Juanes, he is one of my fave artists of all time and is beloved by the public because of his lyrics and his music. I remember watching a show and the girl said that a boyfriend wont have a problem taking his girl to a Juanes concert because he will like him too. Then she went on to say how young and old love him. I also introduced Juanes to my spanish teacher and she loves him just as much as i do. So take a listen. But he is classified in the pop rock genre. But i would listen anyways if you dont like it you dont. But going to traditional artists are Celia Cruz you will love her. I cant think of any it is the morning for me but if i think of more i be back!lol

I also love Juanes and I really like Alejandro Sanz. My favorite song by Alejandro Sanz is "Quisiera ser", the lyrics are so pretty. Carlos Ponce has some good songs too. If you're looking for more traditional I'd try the Gypsy Kings and I think Mana is pretty good.

I'm obsessed with El Canto del Loco. I heard of them when I first started snooping around Fernando Torres websites and discovered that Torres is really good friends with the lead singer, Danny.

They're pop-rock. I have two songs that I love "Ya Nada Volverá A Ser Como Antes" and "Una Foto En Blanco Y Negro."

well, alot of the mainstream latino/a artsit here in america started out being mainstream in latin america... sooo... but whatever, anyway

for slasa, i reccomend Frankie Negron and he's got two good songs 'Por Tu Placer' and 'Comerte A Besos'. Both songs are great slasa songs, kind of pop-ish and all the lyrics are clear (seeing as how your trying to learn spanish, its a good place to start)

rock... if you want to push the limit of your listening skills (though I dont reccomend it for a beginner is Puya. but they're a little (not too) hardcore and sometimes you can't tell if hes singing in spanish or english, but they're a pure puerto rican band

for bachata theres the ever popular aventura. easy lyrics, kind of pop-ish, and you might recognize their song 'No Es Amor' that Frankie J butchered...

i think that should be a good start and a little variety ^^
