THE NEW MISS WORLD IS CZECH REPUBLIC

Tatana Kucharova, Miss Czech Republic, was crowned Miss World 2006 at the conclusion of the annual event held this year at the Palace of Culture in Warsaw, Poland.

18-year old Tatana is a student from Opocno who wished to become a media personality. The 1.77 m tall model is the first woman from the Czech Republic to hold the Miss World title.

The 1st runner-up was 17-year old Ioana Boitor from Romania, and the 2nd runner-up was Sabrina Houssami from Australia.

The contestants from Angola, Brazil and Jamaica took honors as the remaining Top 6 finalists. Each finalist was crown "Continental Queen of Beauty" within their geographical region.

17 semifinalists were chosen instead of 16, due to a reported tie between the Asian Pacific contestants from India and Australia.

Viewers selected half the finalists, while a distinguished panel of judges selected the other half.

104 contestants competed in the annual event, which attracted a record number of media this year. Tatana was crowned by the outgoing titleholder, Unnur Birna from Iceland.

LOL, well miss world always has queen of continents so all girls from various regions will definitely shine. And if there's one thing that fans like to bash about Miss world, it's the owner, hehe.

wow, i'm going to go watch this! i hope someone asian wins because i so thought that japan was going to win in miss universe but she didn't. i was so pissed!
