Sam Dawson is a mentally-challenged father raising his daughter Lucy with the help of an extraordinary group of friends. As Lucy turns seven and begins to intellectually surpass her father, their close bond is threatened when their situation comes under the scrutiny of a social worker who wants Lucy placed in foster care. Faced with a seemingly unwinnable case, Sam vows to fight the legal system and forms an unlikely alliance with Rita Harrison, a high-powered, self-absorbed attorney who initially takes his case pro bona as a challenge from her colleagues. On the surface the two couldn't be further apart, but in reality they are subtly similar. Sam's compulsive nature is mirrored in Rita's more socially acceptable obsessive-compulsive nature. Together they struggle to convince the system that Sam deserves to get his daughter back and, in the process, fuse a bond that results in a unique testament to the power of unconditional love.

OK, I just watched this movie and I think I (literally) cried a bucket. It was incredible and taught me so much.

Has anybody else seen it? If you haven't I really recommend this movie; I dunno why I waited so long to watch.

Yes, I have. I've heard so many reviews from people saying it's really sad and a really good movie but I couldn't find myself liking it much. Maybe I was expecting too much, there was just something about it that I couldn't really concentrate on.
Thought I couldn't live without you
It's gonna hurt when it heals too
Even though I really loved you
I'm gonna smile 'cause I deserve to.

The movie was good but it wasn't heartwrenching for me. I guess I probably expected too much.

Ah. I'm sort of bumping this topic..but I was just watching this on TV today, and this is my second time watching it in a few years..I cried like a baby :'( The first time I watched it, I didn't really get the movie and I was close to tears, but I didn't cry. But for the second time I watched, I LOVED it. I also forgot what happened too, but still. This is like the BEST movie ever. I think everyone should watch it at least once tongue.gif
wat.
