I'm not sure if I'm in the right thread but here goes...
I'm not in College yet, but soon next year and I was wondering... After college (in 2009), should I take a year or two off to travel? It may seems pretty early, but I like the idea of taking a break on my studies and work in London for a few months and travel all over Europe and then work in Japan or maybe learn Spanish in Barcelona... Or visit my friends from different countries. That would be so great...
But I'm also against doing that... My financial advisor told me that I wouldn't be with people my age and I hate the idea of finishing school late... Some people advised me to not go and to finish school early. I have an idea what I want to be when I grow up, and I like the idea of starting in the work force early, although I really want to take a break from it all because I think that life is going too fast and I'm wasting my youth from studying all the time... Two of my cousins are in University right now, they're still young and all, and they already started taking stage right now. I also have other fears, like what if I forgot everything I've learned while traveling? Or I don't feel like going back to school after a year or two of traveling?
I know what I really want, is to travel... Still..Another part of me told me to stay in Quebec and finish University early, then go to the work force...
What do you guys think ? Give me the pros and cons about traveling... I don't need you guys to decide for me since I know what I really want, but the other part keeps telling me to stay where I am and travel every year for three months...

I wont even give you an answer to your question.
First get into university, complete at least half way and then start thinking about it. In school you may come across new opportunities that will interfere with your idea of travel.
Its too early to make a clear cut decision.

^What they said. Once you get in to college, ask your advisor about the Foreign exchange program. There are different types, one might be in Europe. Also, summer is about 3 months, so you can travel during summer, but then you are required to have certain amount of summer credits to graduate.

That depends on the school..
some schools have anywhere from 3-5 months for summer vacation, so.. just think about it after you're more into college. There's no point in thinking about that now when, later on, you might get so interested/excited about a certain graduate program that you want to just jump right into it right after you graduate..
Feel free to msg me if you want contact info :D

You guys have some very good point of view, but I'd decided to take a year or two break after college. I love travel so much and I dream of traveling when I was a little kid. It could change next year or two, but I have made my choice now. Thanks for all the advices guys =) !

If you get a good job with benefits like paid vacation time they'll give you like a week or two per year so you can travel then if you like and you'll have your own money to do it.
blah blah blah I love my N95 8GB
