Pay-wise, it doesn't help a whole lot. It does cover for anything extra I might want outside of school supplies. Clothes, games, books... It's also a good thing to work and save the money. You may frown on the $1500 a semester or whatever but it does help you not worry about immediate money needs. It's always nice to have pocket money.
Unless you have your own car or have huge gaps between classes or free time in your day, it's pretty much impossible to get a job that would pay enough pay for your rent or tuition or whatever it is you need it for.

what u earn from work study will help u pay for unexpected expenses...
with work schedule.. you submit your own schedule and you can even work 2 hours a day during your busy days...
i just started 2 weeks ago... and at the moment, the dept. is not really busy... i've got nothing to do... so my supervisor told me to bring my school work so i can study...
and like Kazen88 said... you meet college staff/faculty... in my experience... they helped me a lot in college...
i used to work at the counseling center... and i got to know all the secretaries and counselors... that was my freshman year... i transferred to a uni and im working right now at a research lab... and i told my supervisor about my interest in research and she said i can talk to her boss, the co-director of the research center...
i was thinking of looking for another job... like off campus.. but then... with my major which is nursing.. work-study helps a lot...
ichiban - that's really great... i dun think my school does that.. raise and no limits to working hours...

I only work a few hours a week and a lot of employers are flexible with hours and stuff and with certain jobs you can do your homework on the job. Anyway, work study is just like a regular job except you can only earn a certain amount per semester.

It's not too bad. The employers know you are a student so your schedule is planned around your classes, no time conflicts. You also get to know college staff people you might have otherwise never known. A big plus is not having to leave campus for a job if you have no car and live on campus (which I do X_x).
Pay-wise, it doesn't help a whole lot. It does cover for anything extra I might want outside of school supplies. Clothes, games, books... It's also a good thing to work and save the money.
