So I need some studying tips..
I'm not exactly the smartest person ever, but I try so hard, yet I still do so bad in school.
And there are the people who dont ever study and they get like 3.8 GPA.. mad.gif Cause they're just
"born smart"..
Anyone have any advice or tips?

if studying in ur dorm/apt/house is distracting bcos theres tv, internet, friends coming in & out of ur room, then you should go to a study room or to the library. if you're the type of person who cant study in total silence, you should organize a study group or go join one. those are really helpful~

I read my notes from the beginning to the end. Then, I quizzed myself. After that, I read my notes from the end to the beginning. Quizzed myself again. It works for me. =D

1. yes agree with the above, throw away your laptop/desktop
2. open a book, read, read, read, then at the end of every chapter, there should be quetsions, answer them if you can't reread

if that dont work.. which it should becauset hat would be call 'studying'

1. read, take your own notes, study your own notes as much as you can. then look at classnotes. study both and form your own questions or answer questiosn at the end of the chapter.

read, read, read. people who are really smart are just good with commonsense and great reasoning skills o.o

Hell yah, I waste 2-3 hours of sleep time every NIGHT because of my laptop. If you want to succeed, hang out at the library. You'll be reading, trust me.

I`m one of those people who just need to listen in order to understand.
I actually do worse when I study, which isn't always too good cuz there are times when i don't listen. -_________-;;

& fyi, i`m in the library right now...
i can't study when it's so quiet. errrr.

hah, i know what you mean. those people that rarely study but the information automatically registers in their brain. it takes me forever to study. but i find that studying your notes right after lecture and asking your professors for clarification if you don't understand anything really helps. It's best to do everything in a timely manner because procrastinating gets all the information jumbled up in my head.

I am the type of person who gets concepts rather slowly.
So I don't always get the grade that I deserve compared to how much I put efforts in.
But the best way I can study personally is to write down a sentence of main concept or vocab and I quiz myself by talking to myself as I would answer so that I can hear, speak and think at the same time, If I cant do that, then I write down the answer multiple times.

Here's a method for a quick and dirty study.

It's called the anti-procrastination-formula!
If your the type that getss jitters after only a few minutes of reading and must check your myspace/xanga, the latest this or that, do the laundry, call a friend, try this out...

Here's the mathematical formula:

(10 + 2) x 5 = work Done

WTF? you might think, but this formula will do wonders.
Begin by simply sticking to your reading/math/reciting for 10 minutes without thinking about anything else. Just do it.

Wow hard work huh? After the 10 minutes, take a break. A what? Yes, take a break for 2 minutes - Exactly.

As soon as your two minutes are up do another 10 minute study. Then once your finished with the 10 minutes do another 2 minute break.
You might think, "Gee, I was on a roll during my 10 minute, I think I'l go for 20 minutes," STOP that thought and stop exactly at 10 minutes.

Your brain if untrained will have a very short attention span and must be trained to increase work activity. Therefore, you must take a 2 minute break, any longer will spoil your brain and any shorter will make you weary.

If you repeat these steps for 5 times you should realize that exactly 60 minutes would have been effectively put to use. Resulting in a good 1 hour study. Repeat these steps to achieve a good study habbit.

The trick of this formula (10 + 2) x 5 is so that as time progesses you will no longer need the 2 minute break and ultimately work more efficiently.
good luck studying. biggrin.gif

i never thought that "removing all the distractions" really worked... but it does. go to the library by YOURSELF. study.
