Hello, All.

I need help on deciding which mp3 player to buy. My cousin got me an iPod for Christmas in 2004, and I've had bad experiences with it...it would not work for a couple of months, and then when I finally got it to work, it broke around Christmas time 2005. Because of the iPod, i've been VERY hesitant about buying a new mp3 player in general. However, after researching for a few days and reading up on reviews and such..i've narrowed it down to these two:

Samsung YP-T9JAB:
IPB Image
IPB Image
-Price: $199.99
-Memory: 4GB
-Audio Playing Time: Up to 30 hrs.
-Video Playing Time: Up to 6 hrs.
-1.8" color TFT-LCD display
-Built-in FM tuner with FM recording; integrated voice recorder
-Play photo slideshows
-Janus-enabled
-Built-in rechargeable lithium-polymer battery provides up to 30 hours of audio playback (up to 7 hours video playback)
-PlaysForSure compatible
-PC compatible

iRiver H10 20GB Remix Blue

*this specific one is on sale at the moment, so it costs the same amount as the 5GB one. However, I'm not sure if I really need 20 GB, so it's either this one, or the 5 GB*
-Price: $229.99
-Plays up to 600 hours of digital musicn (150 for 5GB)
-20GB of internal storage (5gb for the other one)
-Vivid color display
-Ultra-intuitive interface with convenient touch strip
-Displays your digital photos
-PlaysForSure enabled to play more of your music
-Rechargeable battery lasts up to 16 hours
-Built-in FM tuner and FM recorder
-Integrated voice recorder
-Supports MP3, WMA, JPEG and TXT files
-Enhanced 3D audio (supports SRS WOW™

so the two are VERY similar...but i'm having trouble deciding. Please help!
what's meant to be will always find its way...

i have a iriver h10 but the 5gb version, had it for around 2-3 years it still works like a charm, it never froze on me, so i say get the iriver

but if your gonna spend $229 might as well get the sandisk sansa

Samsung because it has longer battery life and it's cheaper. Have you looked into the Sandisk sansa e200 series? 4 GB is cheaper than the Samsung and does similar or more functions, but the battery life is different. Especially the video playback.

Now, only if the U.S. version of the T9 had bluetooth. Then that would be the winner hands down, unless you need more memory.

iriver and samsung are both great mp3 player companies but imo iriver seriously failed with h10- the screen sucks and the design is poor, as well as short battery life and numerous crashes (personal experience). the samsung product is newer too so just get that.
