Ap English Class and your homework...

You see... we had to write a 4-6 page paper in the 2-3rd week of school (had about 2 weeks for it) and now i'm working on one (we got it the 7th week, due the 8th week) that's due this friday...
and today, the teacher passed out another 4-6 page essay due 2 weeks from now (right after the long holiday weekend, most people won't be in town)... So that's 3 "4-6 page essays" due in a 10 week time span.. i say that its not fair... since the AP test really only needs you to write a lot (2-4 handwritten pages) in a short period of time... as opposed to us wasting time perfecting our ability to write research papers...
Anyone else have similar experiences?
I'm considering emailing the teacher <anonomously> to express my feelings..
right now i like her, and a lot of people dont, and she likes me too=good grades (for not so good workT_T) and i dont want to ruin that..but at the same time................
so yeah.. if you could give me advice??

We haven't had ANY essays so far. All the quizzes on Scarlet Letter are in paragraph form. Tomorrow we're having an MC test and then next week we might do the essay test [first one x_x]
He doesn't give us any homework, except to read + write some post-its [to put in the book]. He's also interesting and I actually pay attention + learn in his class!
We do "Class Work" and "T-Charts" during class or discuss what we read/group work, etc. Also, every month or so, he's going to be giving us practice AP tests, [only on the M/C stuff] and then I think we might be starting timed writing next month [eek] to practice for the real test....
I really lucked out cause he's both the AP English teacher and an SAT I teacher so he gives us tips

It's not too bad in my opinion, there are no page requirements such as your class yet...

It drives me INSANE. I actually have one due tomorrow but I havent even started...
But it's really not that bad and I feel like I'm improving a lot.
It's just with 3 other APs and Academic Decathalon...one essay is really time consuming and it kills me.

Other than that, once in every three weeks or so, he'd assign major, official essays which were worth about 100 pts a pop. We pretty much only had to read and write notes for homework, since he'd expect us to participate the next day about the book or assignment.
Yep. Don't stress out too much about it. 11th grade was the first year I had AP English (previous years I had honors English) so it seemed like a whole lot of crap, but in the end, I was thankful =)
Just finish all your assigments and essays as best you can, and she'll reward you for effort since she likes you already. Work it to your advantage!

we do have an in-class essay pretty much every week (on friday), and we have a month to write 4 at-home essays and at the end of that month, we write a "synthesis" essay, and i really don't see how that would work.
I just wish we started to do more grammar-related stuff... we finished The Crucible, we didn't really do anything with that book except read it and do a mock-witch trial..
i don't know. i feel like i'm going to get a 1 or 2 cuz of the class.. >_<;;

Anyway... I loveeeeee my AP English class. Everyday, I come in with my food from lunch, finish my food, then off we go to our work. The teacher is fun because I guess she can relate with us in a way.

We wrote two literary responses back to back and one of them was an in class exam. She totally controls the way we write out essays which is NOT the way I've been learning at all. I like to write in my own style, and I can write a damn good paper but she'll fail me if I don't write her way.
We are expected to write 12 essays this semester, 2 of each kind [persuasive, lit. response, expository, narrative, i forgot the other two...]
I think that's a bit much, don't ya'll? I hate this class.

It's kind of hard for me to hate her the most of my classmate do...i was taught to not hate teachers or whatever..but i do feel that she's going a little over the edge... especially since our 4.-6 page essays were 50 or 75 points, when the in class essays are 50 points and theres a major difference in the time spent in the two... which is stupid...
but yeah.. i'm still stressed, but have gotten over it..
and tomorrow by this time, hopefully my gatsby essay will be done...

I'm in 11th grade AP English Honors also and let me tell you, I hate it. I've never had such an anal, mechanical teacher.

Your teacher sounds exactly like mine. She's sweet and all but she's the ultimate Grammar Nazi when it comes to essays and speech. I've failed all of my essays miserably in her class; it's very depressing! I thought that I could write essays pretty well considering that my grades in English Honors have always been high, but I'm seriously starting to doubt myself.
I don't hate her because she's always there if anyone needs help, but I do hate the class.

But, man...
I took ap language/literature my senior year... we wrote two six to seven page papers per semester, had two page essays due every other day, two major project assigned per semester, one at the beginning of the semester and one at the end, which was assigned simutaneously with a whopping 70-percent-of-your-grade writing portfolio due at the end of every semester. It was a killer class. Basically, you were writing constantly, reading constantly, the friggin class became your life. So you're not alone! Unfortunately, all I can tell you is you just have to muscle through =/.
