Can I just say, first off, that I LOVE this topic?<33333

Hahaha, now my roommate...
We're really compatible. For the first month or so, we were like "wow, the school did a really good job of pairing us up"
But now I'm not so sure.
She's constantly bringing guys in, and one time she was like "you're kind of c**k-blocking" and so I left to go to my friend's room.
But excuse meeeeeeeeee, for staying in the room that my parents pay loads of $$ for. And besides, shouldn't SHE be the one leaving? The point of college is to study and get a good education, NOT to snuggle with one guy one night and then decided the next day that you don't like him, and keep leading him on.
AAAAAAAAAARGH I'm so frustrated by her! She keeps complaining about how she thought this guy was cool, but then he turned out to be annoying and clingy, and now she doesn't like him. Well, what did she expect? She's always leading them on! And I can't exactly lecture her, because it's not my place to. But then she complains to me, and I'm just like OMFG let me sleep!

Whew, that was better. =p

man oh man.
where do i begin, ha.
well my roommate over is cool but sometimes its just ehhh weird? our dorm is pretty small. just a room with dressers, closet, and a bunk bed/desk thing and a community bathroom.
i did a random roommate and the housing department pretty much just sticks random people together for rooming (we dont even have a compatiblity sheet thing!) anywho, first it was alright- we talked and stuff. but now its just sometimes REALLY weird, like we have nothing to talk about and dont speak to each other when we're in the room for hours. (one time we went without speaking a single word to eachother for 3 days)
he pretty much does he's thing and i do my own. but the one thing that kinda gets me aggratved is that he brings his friends over ALL the time (around 1-3 of them) everyday and all they do is play xbox while im trying to study sometimes and it gets me pretty ticked. but i just sit there and dont say anything to them.
BLAAAHHHHH. i am never doing a random roommate if i dont have to thats forsure. good thing im transferring next semester im happy with that.

My roommate barely spends time in the room... but when he does come in, he's here to take a dump. ph34r.gif And he takes at least 4 dumps a day. sleep.gif Ugh, we have to buy so much toilet paper.

I'm currently rooming with my sister. It's my first year here and my sister's last so we just decided to room together. Sometimes it's a pain in the butt. Like seriously, all she does is play her WoW. She doesn't eat most of the time so I have to make sure she eats. Then I'm the only one doing all the chores like throwing away the trash and recycling and cleaning the room. Hairballs tend to accumulate in the span of a week because we both have sorta long hair and shed alot. It's so gross. Plus she doesn't have very good personal hygiene. She doesn't shower everyday but at least she doesn't smell. Also, she watches TV when she plays her games; I don't get that at all. Her back is turned to the TV when she's on the computer so what's the point of leaving it on? When I sleep early at like 10 PM or something because I'm hellaz tired, I'd wake up at like 1-2 AM because the TV is still on and she's still awake.*sigh* As much as I love her, sometimes I wish I roomed with someone else.

i know what you guys are going through! at first, my roommate wasn't very sociable. she was constantly not there. the only time she ever came back was to sleep for a few hours and then she would go off again. that didn't bother me at all. it's when she's staying in our dorm, THEN she gets on my nerves. the biggest complaint i have is that she doesn't think about anybody but herself. like when i'm about to sleep, she doesnt' turn off the main light and turn on her smaller light. she just leaves it there until i get up and tell her to shut it off. same thing with her music. at the beginning when we had to fill out a roommate contract, i've specifically told her that it doesn't bother me when she brings friends over. just tell me ahead of time. but she doesn't. there's always random guys coming over and hanging with her. heck, there was even one that slept over that i didn't know about! i'm at my wit's end. and i've already told her twice to stop what she's doing because it bothers me. i've always wanted to room with a stranger because i had this fancy notion of becoming great friends with her. *sigh* i'm sorry that i'm nowhere near that.

i have two roomies this year
i'm really cool with roomie a but roomie b, oh my god
she is so freaking messy!
leaves her shoes lying on the floor
bottles uncapped and ziplock bags on the floor
the other day, she dropped like two humongous pieces of shrimp tempura on the floor
next to my other roomies deskm we kicked it to her desk
but it took her two days to find them! wth!?
AND it was only cause i told her

EDIT
i forgot to tell everyone who LOUD roomie b is
she has no idea what volume control is and wakes up banging everything
she sings hella loud and like talks on the phone really loud too!
this girl, i'll be sleeping at 9 on a sat
and then all of a sudden she'll start like almost yelling into the phone

I used to like my roommate, but Im beginning to feel ambivalent. she can be quite rude at times. she leaves the lights and her music on while Im trying to sleep or study, and talks/yells to her bf for hours while Im trying to sleep. even when I ask her to quiet down, she softens her voice just a notch, but not by much.

she's also a bit freaky. she's unsure of her sexuality and constantly asks me how I feel about lesbians and gay people. (I dont mind them) she looks at porn (in front of me) and reads eroticas.. advising me to do the same o.o oh and she also walks around the room naked.

my roommate is also not very understanding. I have an extremely crude and fastidious design studio teacher who does not give anything higher than a B- (he said that "if you get a B- in my class, you are far from amazing and I think your work should be displayed in a museum) needless to say, nobody in my class has a B-, the highest is a C+ and that girl is really amazing. but anywayyy. my roommate, fortunately, has a really easy design teacher and she thinks the class is pretty easy. when she sees me working, she always feels the need to say something like "oh, I finished that a LONG time ago, its so easy.. why are u having trouble with it" wtf. REALLY pisses me off. I have 3 times as much as work as her, and everything has to be nearly perfect in order to somewhat impress my professor.

also, I've been really sick the past few days. I have an infection caused by impacted wisdom teeth and stomach ulcers, which my doctor thinks may be appendicitis. I've become really good friends with this girl named kate in my hall so I was resting in her room for a significant amount of time throughout the week. she even made me a "barf bag" bc I've been vomitting. Just last night, I fainted while vomitting (putting too much strain on my bowels) and when I woke up, I was in the hospital. when I came back to my dorm, the FIRST thing my roommate said was "oh, you should really thank brittney, she had to take out ur barf bag to the trash".. brittney is kate's roommate who I dont like very much. wow. sorry Im going on such a long rant. but I just need to get this out of my system.

overall, I dont like my roommate very much.

i get along really well with both my roomies. i just have issues when they take my water. i bought two boxes of water for myself because i drink 5 bottles a day. but i guess they thought that i bought it for all THREE of us and so they keep drinking my water. and now i have no more water left sad.gif i feel so dehydrated. but other than that. i love my roomies.

well...i dont have any horror stories about room mates...except for my sophomore year room mate. he wanted to fight, so proceeded to hit me and i took him down with a double leg take down. he was mad for a few months...but it wasn't much of a fight i guess.

anyhow, this is perfect timing. one of my best friends has a room mate who...doesn't clean up after himself, like really. according to him, he has pizza boxes and boxes from this chinese restaurant from august/september. he opened up a box because there was an odor, and there was a network of mold FILLING a box.

his friends are over every night and dont leave until 6am and they eat his food. the room mate smokes...but the apt is non-smoking...and he opens the window to air out his room all day which makes the work harder to compensate for the heat that's being lost.

i had to listen to him complain about this fellow for over an hour. he was looking for a solution, and evidently, reason is beyond this fellow. i dont know what to tell him. it gets much worse...but i dont want to take up too much time writing about it.

but...i've found that i hate sharing space with other people. i'm selfish.
so i live in a 2 bedroom flat all by myself. happy.gifv i love the partitioning. it's outta sight!

it has been two months and my roommate and I are still on good terms. due to schedules conflict, we hardly see each other, but I like my roommate. I don't know if she has a problem with me...yet...lol. We aren't exactly friend-friend/hang out and such but we get along just fine. We basically stick to our side of the room, sharing trashcan, water, snacks and such.

^ is this your freshman year????
just wait until....

ehhehee. joking.
that's good that things are going good for you.

my roomy and i are like that too.
we see eachother a lot, and we stay on our own side of the room.

the only problem is that the windows AND the heaters are on her side of the room.
so... no matter how cold i am, i have to turn the heater off
at a certain time cause i dont want her to fry.
and it's up to her to open the windows cause i dont want her to freeze to death too.
but luckily, im good at adapting. biggrin.gif

take care my college fellows!

MY ROOMMATES ARE DRIVING ME OFF THE WALL.
We get along great, except for one of my suitemates (she sorta keeps to herself...and shes a bit scary...very buff and a bit manly? but she still has her silly side, and when she does join us, she's really cool)

HOWEVER i didnt realize i was neat freak until i started rooming with them
THEY DONT CLEAN AT ALL.
I ALWAYS DO THE DISHES, CLEAN THE BATHROOM/KITCHEN/LIVINGROOM
i feel like they think i like to do the dishes (well i do but NOT EVERY TIME)
They dont even take out the trash, and i do all the work for them, like putting the trash into the bag and tying the bag and touching all the grossness.
it just lies there on the dirty kitchen floor, and making flies conquer our whole suite. (my roommate mastered in catching those flies cus there are so many of them)

because i have a really laid back schedule this year, i feel like theyre saying, "u have all the free time in the world, why dont u clean it up?"
i dont know if theyre just plain lazy or they just dont like to clean, or they think im their maid or mother or something, but its REALLY BUGGING ME.

and the one suitemate that sorta secludes herself NEVER does anything. at least the other two make an EFFORT to clean up sometimes.
she doesnt even pay us back for grocery shopping and most of the plates in the sink are HERS.

I'm the only one who picks up toilet paper from the front desk (we dont even have to BUY IT. u just PICK IT UP)
and whenever i need to use the toilet paper, theres aLWAYS NONE LEFT FOR ME when i need it

@#$@%#@$@#^@$#@%@#$@#$#@$@#$$@

what pisses me off the most is that they KNOW im a neat freak and if the mess stays where it is after awhile, they KNOW i'll clean it up eventually.

UGH!

they're totally using you!

make sure you address this issue with them ASAP or at the right time.

If you don't, there's always the possibility of you just blowing up at them
during the year and you definitely don't want to deal with that.

i got along pretty well with my last roommate when I was still in the dorms. However, I can never go back to living with her because we had sharing issues. To me, everything should be separate. I'm responsible for my stuff, she's responsible for her stuff. Of course I wasn't gonna be stingy, I had a mini-fridge so I wasn't about to make her go buy her own and if she needed a hair tie I'd let her borrow one of mine. But eventually it got to the point where we were sharing a little too much. Her parents bought her those huge packs of gatorade/water/etc. from Costco and since she had so much she always insisted that I drink some. I had my brita water filter, so I never really felt like I should take any, especially since it'd feel like I was taking advantage of her stuff, but as time wore on and we got to know each other better I didn't feel bad taking one every once in a while, it was definitely not all the time. Once I did take that first one she was like "oh great, now we can start sharing drinks with each other. You know one week I can buy drinks and the next week you can buy drinks". First of all, my home is about 10hrs away driving, so I can't go with my parents to Costco to buy things in bulk. Second, I don't have a car, and the dorm was on a hill, so if I wanted to buy drinks I would have to carry all those from the grocery store back to my dorm. Third, I didn't think I should have been obligated to buy the same amount of drinks that she did. Certainly if I were to buy something on my own and if she wanted I would let her have some, but I don't think I should be forced to buy something b/c she bought something. There was another time where she kept saying how she needed more toothpaste and then one day she opened one of my drawers that I let her put some of stuff in (since she had so much I let her use my space) and saw that I had extra tubes of toothpaste. She got mad that I didn't give one to her. To me, if you need toothpaste, go and buy some. If I run low on soap I don't go to my roommate and ask her if I can use hers, I buy more. In her eyes if I needed something she would give it to me if she had it, which is all nice and well, but in the end I think you should be responsible for your own stuff. Especially if it's as easy to get as toothpaste. We even had a student store in the dorms so I don't see why she made such a big deal out of it. So yea, the whole sharing issue was just bad so I don't think I could ever live with her again, although I still hang out with her.
