Sorry if there's already a post like this...
Its typically recommended for every hour of class, you should put in two hours of studying.
How many hours do you actually dedicate to studying and hw outside of class?

after each lecture, i just go over my notes after class to make sure i understand all the material. when exams come up, it's much easier for me. i only study like 1 hour. but after each lecture, i make sure i understand everything, even if i didn't memorize everything.

would have to depend on which class, but usually math/science classes tend to be more demanding for me. btw, the 2 hours/class u said, is that for like every hour of class or just per week?

2 hours of study for every hour of class, that's what my teachers keep saying.
I usually study couple of hours before the day or time of exam, usually only for math. Most of the time I will study couple of hours before the day, if it's like memorizing, then review a bit before the time of exam, but if it's like chemistry then I try to study couple of hours every day.
I need to get myself to studying. Gonna be studying my butt off this week cuz I got some exams. errrrrrrr

^ Thats correct.
I just took one exam today and I should of studied a little harder. I have another one tomorrow and one more next week.
For the past 3 nights, I put 6-7 hours into one homework assignment. It was crazy because it's based on a computer system and the teacher won't accept it unless you have 80% or above on it. It's Physics and you have to round to the right significant number or else the computer will count it wrong. >____<

Most of my "study" hours are reading hours, since I'm an English Lit major. So I spend heaven knows how long trying to keep up with my readings, and then about 3 essays a year. Midterms are usually content & key concepts, but finals are usually the make connections & more key concepts. Essays for me can take anywhere from 5 hours to 20+.
You just hope that there's a question on the exams about a novel that you actually managed to finish.
