hey guys,
i bought a
512 MB i-music mp4/mp3/pod/FMradio player on ebay
i recieved it two days ago.

It looks like this:IPB Image

Everything works great but...

Today i had it in my pocket and i was leaning into the washing machine to put in clothes, and i hear a cracking noise.. so i'm like wtfreak was that? i didn't even put to much pressure on it either.. *sigh

Now, there are like five cracks on my LCD sreen. everything works/shows the same.. it's just the annoying cracks across it =x

The return policy for this ebay person was:
Returns
No refunds are offered. Only defective product will be offered exchange or store credit.
Defective products must be returned within 30 days from the date you placed your order.
It may take up to 7 business days to process your return after we receive your product.

is it RIGHT to get a refund even if i broke it myself?.. idk..i think it's unfair =x it's only been two days.......

well in my opinion, u can't claim a refund because u caused it to crack. i know u didn't mean for it to crack and u also didn't mistreat it so it would, but yeh its delicate and probably that slight pressure caused it to crack. unlucky

yeah you gotta try not to buy things that dont have a warranty. seems kind of sketchy when they don't.

You can always say it was damaged during shipping and delete this thread. Unfortunate that it should break after 2 days, definitely bad luck. Just remember next time to get a protective case. wink.gif

=( thats so sad. One thing you have to remember is LCDs are crystals sandwiched in glass....

Most you can do is scour ebay for a broken mp3 player of that sort to take the screen for.

BTW I highly doubt you're into hardware hacking but that type of mp3 player has a bunch of neat hacks for it. Liek you could buy memory chips for about $20 to add another gig to it (need to solder and all that but I find that neat)

Hows this sound.... if you can see the LCD leave it alone. If you cant see it then consider takign it apart to evaluate how difficult it would be to remove it.

the cracked glass actually came out rather nicely..
i put a little layer of plastic over it, and whalllahh.. it looks (almost) perfect .. omgsh you don't know how happy i am.
i can't believe i didn't realize the lcd itself wasn't cracked. lol thank you God
thank you so much to those who offered their opinions. they were much appreciated. bye xp

Ah~ >.<
I cracked two of my mp4 players screen.
Both cracked in my pocket at the same location
Lol~ At my sis's apartment, different days though.Only a week apart I think.
So unlucky, it actually happened months ago, when they cracked,
I just left them aside and use my mp3 player instead.
Ystday, I kinda took them out again and manage to take out the glass.
And still trying to dig the other 1 out.. tongue.gif
I wanna ask, is there other alternatives than to put a plastic layer over the LCD? I mean what kind of plastic did you use?
I don't want to risk cracking the Lcd screen

You are considered lucky. LOL . I got mine in the beginning of this year, and it was bought in HK by my cousins. I've cracked it TWICE and both times it had to be sent back to HK to fix. I'm still waiting til someone can go to HK so they can help me. Nothing works, i can scroll around sideways but i can't listen to anything at all because the 'enter' bit of the screen is screwed. >< I know how you feel.
