I'm planning to buy a natvigator for my bf's X'Mas surprise present. He alr had the Garmin touchscreen one in mind but when I check on ebay it's wayyy over my budget(my budget is $300~$500). So I have a few questions:
1. Is $300~$500 a reasonable range for Garmin natvigator(or generally for all natvigator)? What's the avg price range?
2. Is it compatible w/all kinds of car? (My bf drives a Matrix)
3. What other brand would you guys recommand?
Thanks!

just buy him a map of the interstate system and tell him to look for signs...but i got bored. if your budget is $300~$500 then, get him something with-in that price range. if he knows anything, it's the thought that counts. duh
i found a couple on ebay under $500, but they are not touch-screen:
Garmon Nuvi 350 GPS bid ends in 4 days.
Magellan RoadMate 800 GPS 19 available.
one from msn:
Magellan Roadmate 700 GPS
save some money and the hopefully he won't be stupid about it. it can get worse for him and you could buy him nothing at all.
But those are just for a few examples.

Get any of the Navman GPS receivers. They're good GPS navigators and they're not overpriced like Garmin or the others. IMO they're the best bang for the buck GPS you can get. I would recommend you get at least the iCN-530 model if not higher. At about $330, it's a great reliable unit and the price is right. And yes, it's got a bright, colored touch-screen. http://cgi.ebay.com/Navman-ICN-530-GPS-Rec...1QQcmdZViewItem
PS: These are small portable units so you can use it in any car. It's far more flexible than integrated GPS as well as being alot more affordable. You just can't watch DVD movies on them like integrated GPS. Playing DVD movies are generally more for showing off to others anyways since you can't really watch a movie while driving.
