Ugh so I tried installing a new hard drive but ****ing Sony never gave me a windows cd. And since I didn't know how to petrition and restore my computer, I had to send my laptop to circuit to ask them to do it and install windows. I'm trying to get korean onto my computer but when I try adding korean to my notebook, its asking me for a windows cd. WTF? Any other way of installing korean onto my notebook?

nowadays, most name brands won't give you a windows cd.. instead they usually have either a recovery disc or a program where the USER has to burn his own windows/recovery cd.

doesn't hurt to try calling them. are you sure you don't have a recovery disc? or the program to burn them with? usually they'd create a hidden partition and keep back up files there.

also try contacting www.laptopsinc.com they are an Sony reseller and authorized repair center, dunno if they will fix problems for non customers but doesnt hurt to ask here too.

Thats why I said you should get a USB hard drive enclosure so you could image your old drive, then dump all the data onto your new one. (Image not drag and drop)

^ Can I still use a usb enclosure now after installing the new hard drive?

-edit-
I just purchased a recovery disc for my notebook after talking to sony support. But the person wasn't sure if it will recovery a program called Vaio Recovery Wizard. Like Range said early, they don't give out recovery cds, instead programs. I'm going to try to get connect with that website later Range.

Yeah, because you have your old hard drive still right? Just ghost the old drive, image it to the new drive. Enclosures are about $10- $15

I still have my old hard drive. How do I ghost my old hard drive and image it? My hard drive is not in my notebook anymore just to let you know.

I also got another question, when I'm playing songs on my notebook and doing something else, like installing a program, the music sounds disorted. I called sony esupport and said its because I'm playing the song too high. I'm able to play songs at a high volume when doing nothing.

Also how can I lower my cpu usage? Is it because I have too many applications going on?

crazy.gif I am so confused.

You can buy something like this...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817182036
(not recomending it, just searched newegg for 2.5" enclosure)

You put your old hard drive into it.

Install norton ghost on your desktop (even a trial will work) make a ghost image of your hard drive.

Put the new hard drive into the enclosure.

Image the ghost image you made onto the drive, making sure you have the bootable checkbox checked and have it expand the partitions to fill the new drive.

Take out the drive and put it into the laptop. With any luck it will boot and windows and it will show a much bigger drive and it will be the way windows was on the other drive.

Good luck. Oh yeah, if you figure out how to fix the vaio sound problem tell me! My brother's vaio sounds all cheap and crackly with any sound and it just doesn't seem right.

^ I tried calling sony esupport but they're just retarded. The person I was talking to said you can't play music at the highest volume without hearing crackly sounds and disorted. I just think that you can really do any other stuff while your listening to music on the vaio. Very dissappointed with this notebook..

Right now I'm surfing on the net and listening to some music and having no problem. But if I do more than surfing the net, I'll hear some cracking and disorting as I'm listening to my music.... Ugh. Thanks for your help everyone and awdark.

No!! Its sounding disorted right now!
