Sony Music Japan - International Audition Website

So, some of you may remember the international audition that Sony Music Japan held about 2 years ago. Well, I was just googling some stuff randomly and it seems that they're going to be doing it again. Like last time, they're going to be taking demo packages via mail only, so it's not like the SM International Audition where they held open auditions. It is open to anyone, including non-Asians and non-Japanese speakers.

This is what you need to include:
- Profile(name, address, telephone number, date of birth, e-mail address, self-promotion, etc.
- Two photographs(full length & face) or a group photograph for bands.
- If you have any demo tape, CD, MD, video or live recording, please send them with your application. However, if you don't have any recordings, you can apply without sending a demo.

This is the address:
"International Audition"
Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc SD Group
7F JS Ichigaya Building
5-1 Goban-cho, Chiyoda-ku,
Tokyo, 102-8366 JAPAN

There are no application fees (with the exception of shipping your package). People will be contacted in 3 months if they're moving on to the next round of auditions.

This is pretty cool. This is another chance for those that have talent and have not yet been discovered. I wonder when deadline is since they didnt set it yet.

Would you by any chance know when they posted that up?

^I don't know for sure, but it can't be that old since it was like the first result on Google and when I searched less than a month ago it wasn't up.

I think even if they dont promote you, they'll help you become a better singer or watever you made it in for. And even though they dont "train" you like how SM,YG,JYP does it I'm pretty sure they'll have vocal coaches to help out with you voice, chorographers to help you dance, and all that good stuff.

To me I dont think self promoting is as hard as trying to get sign by a record label. And lets say one of your songs got famous then when you get some sort of attention. I don't think Sony is just going to sit back and let you do everything your self, assuming they dont help promote you when your new.

And if it is one of your concerns and you made it, you can always ask bring it up and ask questions before you sign the contract.

Just think about the benefits when you do get signed by a company like Sony Music. Free studio time, free vocal lessons, music videos?, a successful company backing you up, etc. So me personally, I wouldnt mind getting signed even if i have to promote my self.

So, I would encourage anyone that have talent and want to try it to go for it if they can.

that is kinda untrue

the dudes name is allure... he gets no training, no promotion, no coaching. promoting is everything... trust me. sony only paid for his production of his album like beats, audio engineering etc.

the main reason allure got signed is cuz his maddness when it comes to self promoting... in this music business... promoting is everything, getting signed is nothing. SM will promote you will become famous... dont matter how good you are if you cant self promote even if say sony signs you, you are still no where.

i cannot stress how important promoting is.. unfortunately.. skills is not really required. i can count so many young singers/actors who sucks at singing/acting yet they are famous all from promotion

Hmm, sorry for the false information then. I was reading the FAQ page and came across this question

If I pass the audition, are there any costs involved?
No. Sony Music will bear all the costs involved in developing your career. If you need lessons, for example, Sony Music will take care of all the lesson fees.

So, I guess I was assuming it involved most of the things like coaching and free lessons.
