okay so i drive a 04 camry le 4cyl and i just had a nail in one of my tires a few days ago. i normally have my tires at about 30-32psi and it's 44psi max. the car door says it should be about 29psi but i think that's a bit too low and i like the feel of 30-32 more so i kept it at that. so when i went to shell gas station to get my tires patched, the dude pumped it up to 40psi and told me that it's good at 40 and yes he knows the max is 44psi. yes i know it's bad to pump tires to max but i kinda like the feel of 40psi, it gives it a little harder ride so i can feel the road better. i kinda wanna keep it at 40 instead of making it 35 or something but would it be really bad leaving it at 40. maybe that guy didn't know what he was doing? to me 40 seems too high but i like the feel so wat to do

Question About Tire Pressure

just do what it says on the sticker in the door jam (29psi). its not "a bit too low" engineers recommend that psi for a reason. but if you like the feel of it a few psi more go for it. 40psi is too high, the guy is an idiot. just let some air out of the tire

maybe the extra pressure helps keep the patch mold onto the tire for a while. But after a few days u could probably let some air out.

on a hot day the pressure would build up higher if set at 40 psi which would dangerous
put it to low 30's again, and dont let that guy touch your tires again.

some people pump it to 40 psi because it gives better mpg... not sure if thats true..sounds risky to me.. i keep it at 32 psi

not for true for 40psi. 40psi is more than likely too high and would lead to uneven tire wear. unless you are doing something with the car out of normal use (auto x, racing, hauling a HUGE load) set the tire pressure to what the manufacturer recommends.
