Yeah the NFC is weak as usual. Bears D and Eagles O get high rankings due to the sorry opponents they've faced. It was great to see my Broncs come out tonight and show the people that their D is no joke. Only 1 TD in 4 games is pretty impressive! McNair better recognize Champ Bailey from now on....trying to throw to his side.
Wait a second.. some of the top teams in the AFC has played weaker opponents as well. New England played Buffalo, NY Jets, and Miami; Baltimore played Tampa Bay, Oakland, and Cleveland; Indianapolis played Houston, NY Jets, and Tennessee; Cincy played Kansas City and Cleveland; and San Diego played Oakland and Tennessee. There are the same number of teams in the AFC who ranks high because of lesser opponents as there are in the NFC.
Let's not play conference bias.

Anyway, that's some enlightening information you provided. I'm only a peripheral Eagle follower as an acquaintance of mine is formerly from Philadelphia and is a big fan.
I guess it's funny that you guys back east would be upset that the Eagles don't run effectively and/or enough and pass too much while here in Southern California we whine about "MartyBall" and taking the shackles off Philip Rivers arm. Sounds like we each need to get Schottenheimer and Reid together and have a little bit of their offensive philosophies rub off on each other. Where you guys pass on a third and short, we're running the ball on third and long. Haha, wth is that?

New England played the Bills that beat the Vikings, a jets team that played Indy tough, lost to Denver and beat the crap out of Cinncy when no one thought they would stand a chance. The only weak team I see is the Dolphins, the team most experts picked to goto the superbowl prior to the start of the season.

You can spin the argument both ways. The Bills also lost to the Bears 40-7 and the Jets lost to the Jaguars 41-0. I'm not trying to pick on N.E., but I don't think it's fair to say one team is strong or weak based on only one game.

True and I think the Pats will have match up problems vs. the bears and jags later in the year as well.

Trungyboi: Kudos on a well-thought out reply regarding the Eagles running game. Obviously, I don't watch Philadelphia games intently (unless it's a national telecast), being out here on the west coast - so it's a bit difficult to absolutely catch the nuances on how the game plan actually pans out. I just found it interesting to note how it was described that the Eagles running game wasn't worth crap. I was thinking to myself, "Whoa, I thought Philly had the #1 offense - certainly they can't be like the old San Diego Chargers of the Fouts era." LOL. It just got my curiosity up, so I hit the ESPN site and checked out the cumulative season stats. I agree, numbers on paper don't really tell the whole story.

The NFL today is weird. West coast teams want to run when the weather is warm. East coast teams want to pass when the weather is cold. Chicago and St. Louis are suddenly good teams, while Washington and Dallas have struggled over the years. I mean.. you know the NFL has changed over the years when San Diego has been considered as a dominant team for three years in a row! Holy crap!
One thing hasn't changed though. Detroit still sucks.
And so does the Cards.
As an avid Eagles fan, I'm not sure what to think of the Eagles. The Eagles offense stomped all over Houston, San Francisco, Green Bay, and NY Giants (for three quarters) and our defense gave up some yardage and some points against the four teams. All of the sudden, against the Cowboys, it was flipped the other way around. The offense struggled (despite 350+ passing yards and 31 points, in my opinion.. they struggled) while the defense shined (of the 24 points scored by the Cowboys, 17 was due to the offense.. but you could say that they should have scored 14 more points on Bledsoe's last two interceptions). All in all, I still think it is a wait and see with the Eagles. The only thing you can be sure of is that the Eagles have bounced back from a miserable season. Super Bowl? As an optimistic Eagles fan, absolutely. As a realist?
..well, the Eagles' schedule was widely regarded as murderous with only the Giants' schedule tougher than the Eagles. The Eagles still have to play Jacksonville, Washington twice, NY Giants, Dallas, Indianapolis, Atlanta, and Carolina. That is 8 very tough games out of the remaining 11 games left in the season. After what has unfolded in the season, you can put New Orleans as a tough game as well (which makes it 9 tough games out of 11). I'll tell you what.. the Eagles can go anywhere from 9-0 to 2-7 in those 9 games. We just don't know. Tough games are hard to predict. But, if the Eagles can manage to win 4 or 5 of those games and win their two easier games (against Tennessee and Tampa Bay), then we're talking about 10 or 11 wins, which puts the Eagles into the playoffs, and then, you cannot deny that the Eagles are a strong team after their schedule.
And.. if they manage to win 7 or 8, even all 9 of those games, can you put the Eagles out of the Super Bowl? Until then, as a realist, I cannot predict what the Eagles will do, not until their murderous run.

I think the eagles should be a solid playoff team as long as Westbrook can play. Mcnabb is the heart and soul of the team but he can't do it all for the entire season. Last week's Monday night game vs. the Packers, mcnabb had to carry the team on his shoulders.

this has got to be the best part of the article...
"He's the only guy on the team which I don't care if he's fat. I don't care if he's 30 pounds overweight," he said. "All you've got to do is punt the ball. Kick it into the end zone."

Wow.
I guess that's one way for Denver to trim the fat off their roster.

Yea, but if Punter ever becomes a position for fantasy football, Shanahan would've kept both punters and not name a starter.

wow..bears to make a solid playoff run? if grossman can keep up..
i don' tthink the ravens are still good enough to win the superbowl..mcnair can definitely produce..but its gotta be on a solid weekly basis..and when he doesn't, he needs someone else on the O to step up..LT for the chargers..and somehow..the bears get it done..

There are a few dominant defenses in the NFL this year. The Ravens and Bears are definitely the at the top of everyone's list for one reason or another, but don't forget the Broncos, Chargers, and maybe even the Falcons (I'm a bit reserved about naming the Falcons as a dominant defense).
I think the Bears, unless a bizarre lost to key players, is a lock for the playoffs. The Bears play in what is the second worst division in the NFL and playing what is one of the easiest schedule in the NFL. They have the best defense in the NFL and probably the best special teams in the NFL. How good will they be in their playoff run? I am not sure. They've played weak teams, but they blew out each team. The other team who blew out weak teams in the beginning of the season was the Chargers, and everyone thinks of them as a strong Super Bowl contender.
The Super Bowl from the NFC will have to go through Chicago one way or another. Whether it is the Bears who come out of it.. well.. we still have a few months to go.
