Oh, so because one of the players was caught as a cheat, it is ok to do whatever you want.. since the other team has a player who used steroids. Right, it is all right.. because that guy used steroids. Wow, what else could we do to him? I mean, because he used steroids, we can do whatever we want, right? ..because he used steroids..

I mean, do you see how ridiculous that excuse is? That's saying that you can be as bad as you want because the other player was far worse than you were. That is the excuse I've been hearing all around town for the past three days, and to be truthfully honest, it is pitiful. I believe you conduct yourself with class and sportsmanship, regardless of who the opponent is and what he or she has done in the past. As soon as you mock them, as some of the Patriots did on the Chargers' hometurf after the Pats beat the Chargers to end their season, you become just as bad as he was. There is absolutely no excuse about it.

Was LT's comments a cheap shot? Perhaps it was due to bitterness, but the coach has to take responsibility of how his players conduct themselves on the field.. fair or not.

As for you calling Rivers' comments immature: HELLO??? Aren't we talking about the Patriots players celebrating excessively? Whose more immature? The comments that Philip Rivers spoke or the way the Patriots acted?

Say what you want about what Mangini was suppose to become. This is the internet.. come on now.

Honestly, I don't understand why Bostonians just won't admit wrong and say that the Pats were wrong in this (too, if you'd like). Here's everybody calling the Chargers crybabies, yet if this were the Yankees doing the same things in Fenway Park, there would be more mayhem than anyone could even imagine.

If the yanks did that at fenway, the fight would be on espn for the next 48hrs. San Diego is sending 9 guys to the pro bowl. Bellichick could very well be the coach if the pats win this Sunday. Another reason to root for them.

Perhaps it is another reason to root for them, but it is not a reason to excuse them.

can anybody explain to me how having "lights out" shaved on your head is classy? and how about doing that stupid dance after only knocking Brady down, not after sacking him. or sending Taylor popcorn so he can watch him in the playoffs (even if he really didn't, joking about it isn't classy either). and calling yourself classy isn't classy. and where was all this classy and disrepectful crap when Chad Johnson did Merriman's lights out dance? LT needs to take a good look at his own team before he talks about other teams.

and does anybody else think it was really sad and pathetic that san diego held a pep rally for a divisional round playoff game? i can understand if it was for a super bowl game but a divisional playoff game? hell i could even slightly understand if there was a rivalry between the teams. how much of a loser are they to actually hold one?

I was at that rally and the reason why San Diego held that rally is because it's not too often for us to come this far with so much accomplished. the chargers have not been known to be the best team out there, but this year we've had so many accomplishments. the rally was held in order for celebration and to pump up our entire city. this city went wild over the chargers, the city actually became united and everywhere you turn you'll see a sign of the bolt. so no we're not losers to hold one, i think that we deserved a rally. LT breaking how many records? MVP, offense player of the year, now 10 pro bowlers, best NFL record, highest ratings in sacks and rushing, QB is having an outstanding first year.. hope you got my point.

my opinion for the LT situation:
why is everyone bashing on one of the most respectable athletes out there?
think about it, knowing LT, he's been through many losses, and experienced a lot of disappoitments with the chargers, so his words weren't merely coming out from a bitter loss.
because LT is so humble and respectable, it is actually surprising for him to say something like that so that obviously means that what the pats did was uncalled for or classess.

thats my two cents.
cant wait for next season

Whatever the issue is, both LT and the Patriots showed no poise as model athletes, even though it's not in their job description to be model citizens for the community. However, the Pats using Merriman's dance in the middle of the Chargers' field was unprofessional, and showed no evidence of a true winner. While LT's comments may have justified his distaste at the end of the game, his actions were nowhere near respectable. Neither side showed class, nor do they deserve backing.

Saints - Bears. I really don't want this miracle season to end. I'll be rooting for the Saints to go all the way and win XLI. It's been a really magical year for them, and they have all the motivation in the world to take it all. Besides that, the Brees, Bush, McAllister, and Colston combination should be too much for the Bears. Add in a probable Joe Horn, and you've got depth like no other on the offense. As for the Bears, let's see which Rex Grossman shows up this week, and see whether they can break the Saints' defense, which they're not known very well for, and exploit any mismatches like last week with Fred Thomas.

Patriots - Colts. Two marquee QBs going at it. Vinatieri ousting his former team? This is going to be a toss up. I'm looking forward to this matchup.

I don't understand.
Vick should have run.

Shoot, if professional linebackers can't catch him, I don't see how airport rent-a-cops would have given him any problems.

I mean, just look at the old OJ Simpson Hertz rent-a-car commercials. There's practically no run D at baggage check.

yeah that was stupid.
but no charges or arrests so..
i think this just makes a stronger argument for that if vick doesn't get pasionate for winning again like he used to be and doesn't get the system/produce for the team this year, he'll be gone becaues he has no excuses this year. he got the good coaching staff, he has the tools to do well, and now its up to him.
but the crimes a misdemeanor anyway. powder of something that smelled like marijuana? lol in miami if youre w/ 20 grams or less, you get 1 yr in jail and 1k fine, but first time offenders rarely get thrown in so.

actually no,
supposedly 30 percent of the league does it, but thats not the point.
it was totally stupid of him to try to think that he could get on wtih the bottle in the first place..
he threw it out, but then security decided to go dig it back up because he was reluctant to give it up at first, and it happened to be the only bottle in there because the garbage was recently cleaned out..

and yes, the falcons' offseason is going pretty well thanks

Do you have a source for that information? I don't ever remember reading that security dug up his bottle in a trash can after Michael Vick threw it out.

Three fumbles in the first quarter is unexcusable. I'd be throwing fits if I was Payton.
I want to be the one in front of you...just like that guy.

wow 2 straight passing plays leading to a safety inside your own 5yard liine....pretty dumb playcalling sean payton. Stupid saints barely ran the ball when they had the bears on their heels. And on the 47 yard field goal attempt...they never even ran the ball so their kicker would get an easier kick....again bad playcalling. crazy.gif

Go Colts!

Do you realize how difficult it is to work off your own 5 yd line against the Bears' defense? When you snap the ball, you're in the endzone. If you run the ball, and they tackle you before you gain any yardage, you just make it harder on yourself. You can blame the team, not just Sean Payton. Drew Brees panicked and intentionally grounded on two plays.

Did you even see how the Saints' running game was faltering all game long? Deuce McAllister couldn't get crap. They got a total of 56yds on 12 rushes. That's basically doing nothing. So how do you expect them to gain extra for a closer FG when it did nothing in the beginning?

The Saints need to find a new CB. Offenses are just exploiting the weaknesses of Fred Thomas.

Are you kidding me? Getting another 2-5 yards would've helped in the field goal situation. And if you were watching the game you'd know they almost completely abandoned the run when they didn't have to. They constantly went back to throwing the ball on countless 1st and 2nd downs. And no you do not have to pass when you're inside your 5yard line. Like I said any smart coach would've at least ran the ball on either 1st or 2nd down, but they didn't. So to say Deuce didn't do crap is so unfair. He didn't get the ball enough(due to countless passes on 1st and 2nd downs) tongue2.gif
