It doesn't really matter that much who wins the Super Bowl to me.
But to be devil's advocate, I'll root for the Bears.
And to put that much more of a spin on it, I'll go so far as to predict a final score: Bears 23, Colts 19. (+/- two points on either end - could be a 21-17 or 24-20 score - but basically Bears by 4, with the total score being under 44 points).
This much I know: with the Super Bowl being on a neutral site, the game for both teams is essentially a road game. And in studying their trends and success in their road games, I see that the Bears have more of the edge in this regard. Whereas the Bears were 7-1 in their road games, the Colts were a mediocre 5-4 in their nine road games (including the playoff win in Baltimore). If you take it further and analyze their performance in their most recent 5 road games, the Colts were a woeful 1-4 - again with only the playoff game in Baltimore being the gutsy win that broke the string. And in 3 of the 4 losses in this span, the Colts lost to the Texans, Titans, and Cowboys by a margin of 3-4 points in relatively low-scoring lackluster offensive performances. Indianapolis is by far an invincible team when placed on the fast track that is their domed home field. But put them on a natural grass surface away from home and they just seem like they aren't the same kind of offensive force. Even in their win against a tough Baltimore defense, they won that game principally on the foot of Vinatieri and some timely defensive plays. But which does one place more weight upon? The most recent road win against the Ravens or the overall trend that the Colts are just a .200 winnning percentage team over the course of their last 5 road games? For me, I'll take the latter. And take into account the possibility of inclement rainy conditions for the game, the more I think Indy will play more to their norm/trends when placed in "road game" conditions.
Haha, I could be right - I could be royally wrong. But I know you can't brag about it after the fact, so may as well put my prediction out there! Anybody else care to make a prediction along with their own synopsis? Game time is near!
