i drive a 97 accord sedan automatic
driving for 2 years but everytime i ask someone why it wastes so much gas compared to other cars
my fuel tank is about what 12-13 gallons and i can only can 250 miles at most! 200 miles at the last quater till it goes empty
all my friends that know about cars give me dumb reasons like ohhh u got a heavy foot...i drive normally or clean this and that which my dad has, change the oil done..done w/e i could for this car to save gas
i gave it to my cousin who is like supervisor inspector i don't know what, and he said nothing much i could do about it
i only know this car has been thru one accident but nothing was wrong with the engine
i have a cousin who drives a 97 accord sedan v6! who gets 260 at the quarter line before empty and he says he gets 300 some miles before it goes empty

The condition of your air filter, spark plugs/wires, tire pressure also play a role in gas mileage.
Check if your fuel filter needs to be replaced.
Put a bottle of chevron/techron fuel injector cleaner in your gas tank.
But a bottle of seafoam and suck it through hose connecting the pcv valve and keep the rpms above 1500. it should blow smoke for a few minutes breaking down chunks of carbon.

no matter how high the gas prices got, i still filed my car up with premiun...so my car would get better gas milage and would run better ever so often and i would go to walmart and get those fuel injector and gum out fluids for my engine and did it every so empty tank....i dunno if it helps with the gas millage problem but it just maintains the life of the engine and the car....it's not that hard nor that expensive to do~
in the long run it's much cheaper than to get a new car or get/rebuild your engine~

The fuel tank capacity is 17 gallons. For fuel economy it says 23/29, but I always got around 21. Also my Accord (95) had the same problem... on the last 1/4 mark the needle would dip faster than the other marks (1/2, 3/4). My Integra is even worse than that! Close to the empty mark, I still have over 2 gallons left.
I think estimating your gas mileage by your method is not very good. Try the other standard method. First make sure you keep track of your mileage every time you fill up your tank by reseting the counter. Then on your next fill-up divide the number of miles driven by the number of gallons filled at the gas station. So if I drove 350 miles, and I filled up 13 gallons... that comes out to 26.92 or about 27 miles to the gallon. See if your gas mileage is as bad as you think it is. So my point is don't trust that fuel gauge.
Find out what needs to be maintained on your car and perform standard maintenance on it. Also do you have any custom mods on your car? Carrying any excess weight?

lol nah im not a modder, this is just a place to place car and no excess weight but yea i will try to divide the miles per gallon and i do reset the thing everytime i fill up
but yea thanx i'll come back with the results with that since i always throw away my reciepts

yes a lot of stop and go traffic makes u lose gas mileage
when im in la i lose about 5 mpg compared to when im at school up north (country side). thats a 75 mile loss per fill up
