Penny Tai was born in Johor, Malaysia. She started song-writing at the age of 17, participating in the Halo Song-writing Contest [1] in Kuala Lumpur, a platform which also launched the career of fellow Malaysian singer, Fish Leong. In 1999, she was offered a contract by EMI Music (Taiwan) and moved to Taiwan pursue a career in singing and song-writing. She released her self-titled first album, Penny, in January 2000. Her latest album is iPenny, released in October, 2006. She is marketed by her company as a talented singer-songwriter who is responsible for both the compositions and performance of her songs.

she's a great singer, so talented and pretty too...
but wow she's 28....she doesn't look it at alll!!! I've heard a few tracks off her new album, sounds pretty good but ni yao de ai is still my favourite =]

She use to be more into rock-style music but these days she comes out with great edgy(?) ballads that suit her voice perfectly. I love the way she performs live, it's always a bit different from her recordings but sounds good all the same. =)

Jie Jiao de zhu fu is a fantastic song for anyone who wants to give her music a go. =)

I really love her second recent albums. It's so awesome. But sometimes I get the feeling she's not popular enough, like Gary Cao. =/
