Personally, USC should have been out of the number one spot weeks ago and their game against Notre Dame sealed the deal. USC can't be compared to Texas -- Both have awesome offenses: runningbacks and quarterbacks, but only Texas has an awesome defense..

dont blame the system
What do you call 2003? We were shot out of the BCS title game even though we were #1 in both polls.
Anyway having said that, Troy should have no trouble with Texass in the Rose Bowl.

Texas has delivered such an amazing season. I don't think I've seen such a large riot-like crowd after we won against #4 Ohio. I managed to get tickets to the Tech game this past weekend; the game was over by halftime.

rankings are overrated this year because it's obvious it's going to be USC vs. Texas at the Rose Bowl anyway, unless one of them falters. Texas has a clear path to the Rose Bowl, but USC has a huge obstacle ahead when they face an excellent UCLA team.

one of the main reasons for it,
was to avoid a split national championship
that happened when usc & lsu split the title
anyways, it dun matter that texas is #1 right now
if usc stays at #2, they'll still play for the title
auburn got shut out last year
if georgia or alabama go undefeated this year, and get shut out
the SEC is gonna be pissed

everybody does it ...
March Madness = NBA Playofss (cept its more teams and only 1 game)
NCAA Baseball = MLB Playoffs (ya ... almost same format)
BCS Bowl Games ~ does not equal ~ NFL Playoffs ...
and I think it would be interesting to see a NCAA Football playoff ...
haha

Everybody knows a playoff system is best but nobody has the balls to implement it.

Theres too many complications to consider a playoff system. The whole system would be an equal hoax to the BCS system? The poll system we have right now (AP polls, coach polls, etc.) are faulty and opinionated themselves. Until we have an intercollegiate league of all the teams in the US, a playoff system is faulty. Thats why we have conference championships.
It's a lot better than the current system. At least in a playoff system the only controversy is who actually makes the playoffs. There is always controversy about who gets bids into the NCAA tournament for basketball but it's a hell of a lot better system than just taking #1 and #2 in the AP polls and making them play one game for the national championship.

dont blame the system
that was the stupidest comment ive seen today. thanks for a great chuckle.
2-3 years ago, who was screwed by bcs? USC. why? because USC was left out of the title game and it was OKLAHOMA vs. LSU... NOT USC vs LSU!... however they did share the national title... they got left out.
its ok... usc has the tough teams coming up... they'll get the strength of schedule back.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
if they do playoffs in ncaaf... regular season will have less value. ie, a team that has 3 losses can become the national champion because they were on a hot streak near the end... thats crap.
a champion is someone who can start out strong and finish strong.

Like how the teams are going to be picked and seeded and when and where the playoff games are going to be played.
By the way I was impressed by VaTech tonight. The might give Troy a tougher game than TX.

last year proved that the BCS is broken and needs to be removed

I'm open to a playoff system but first you have to give me the details on how it's going to work.

8 team playoff.
They system that will be used would probably be similar to how it is now. However, the difference is that the controversy over leaving a 7 or 8 or 9 or 10 ranking team out of the picture is a lot less significant than trying to justify why there are 3 undefeated teams in major conferences and somehow one of them gets left out. Personally, I think any undefeated team should be given a shot. I can't really say Utah was the best team in the country last year but who would say they weren't if they beat Michigan, Auburn and USC to win the national title?
The playoff games can be played in the same locations as the major bowl games are now. Hell, the bowl games can even keep their names and sponsers.

And have them played in the major bowl games? For an 8 team playoff there needs to be 4 quarterfinal games, 2 semifinal games and a national title game played. Exactly when and where are they going to be played? How much time between each game?
