本当 means truth. so 本当に would be like, is that the truth? really? so yea...but very makes sense lol

so, the dictionary form of these words are
やすむ
てつだう
たつ
and the -te rule for these are
む = んで/んだ
う = って/った
つ = って/った
so the -te form would be
やすんで
てつだって
たって
with the -nai ending, you change the ending to the -a syllable
eg. if the word was 行きます the き→か
やすまない
てつだわない (this is special anything that ends in う gets changed to わ)
たたない
nakatta is simple, change -nai to -nakatta..
simple remove the i and add katta..
やすまなかった
てつだわなかった
たたなかった
changing from -te to -ta is simple..
remove the -e and substitute with a
たべて→たべた
いって→いった

i need to review my japanese notebook i learnt about changing forms a lot but completely blank in my brain right now , it's suck how i can read a lot of japanese ( not a lot of kanji) but don't understand wat it means =[
