anyone know some easy ways to learn the plain form? ZOMG! i have an exam for tomorrow, and i'll study soon xD but yeah, theres plan form, AND I ABSOLUTELY suck at plain form.
is this right?
present form: use うsounds
example: taberu
past form: change to あ sounds -> changing taberu to: tabeta?
negative: add a nai? -> tabenai ?
past neg: tabenakatta
please help me T^T'' tell me what sounds i change when its past, neg forms? xD thanks!

haha sounds like you got that down already though. your right about taberu. The way i worked it out was, if its -eru, always put the ending after -e. Tabe-nai

-ru = past -ta / neg -nai / neg past -nakatta

examples:
- suteru, suteta, sutenai, sutenakatta
- shiraberu, shirabeta, shirebenai, shirbaenakatta
- tariru, tarita, tarinai, tarinakatta

-u = -su > shita /
-ku > ita ex: kiku > kiita
-gu > ida
-bu > nda ex: asobu > asonda
-tsu> tta ex: matsu > matta
-mu> nda
-ru > ita ex: naoru > naorita
-u > tta ex: kau > katta

For all -u verbs, negative just take off the -u and add -anai. ex: matsu > matanai, kiku > kikanai, kariru > kariranai, naoru > naoranai
EXCEPT: -au, becomes awanai

Anyway thats my little bit of help. lol

Perfect help! By the way, about your negative common up there...question...
-ru = past -ta / neg -nai / neg past -nakatta
the question is...what about the past positive? how would you write them?

uhh, past positive...would be the regular past, no? lol

-ta, as in tabeta, would be past positive.

Does anyone know what mita kureh means? Something like that. I'm not too sure but it's what Marth says (from Super Smash Bros Melee) when he wins a battle so I was just kind of wondering what it meant. ^^;;

Yata means sort of like..."hooray!" (do you say hooray? I just learned this word from books) " I did it!" "I made it!" "I achieved it!"anyway it is a shout when you feel happy. biggrin.gif

vyvy94I hope my explanation isn't confusing... ><;;

1. 'No/の' is a possesive marker. You use it when you want to show possesion of something or someone.
Example:
Romaji: Kore wa watashi no cd desu
Japanese: これは私のCDです。
Translation: This is my CD.
Purpose: The 'no' here is showing that the cd is mine

2. 'Desu/です' in Japanese is the verb 'to be' conjugated as 'am/is'. You use it to show the state of an object or person, it's placed at the end of the sentence.
Example:
Romaji: Watashi wa kanadajin desu.
Japanese: 私はカナダ人です。
Translation: I am Canadian.
Purpose: The 'desu' here is defining that I am Canadian.

N.B!!- The 'wa/は' is a particle that identifies who/what state of being the person/object is in, in the case of the example, it is indicating that I am canadian.

The most basic japanese sentence i can think of is [sthg] desu. But I think it's kind of casual in it's form.
Example:
Romaji: Hon desu.
Japanese: 本です。
Translation: This is a book.
Purpose: I'm taking a Japanese word (Hon) and combining it with 'desu' to form a simple sentence.
