If you need the situation, a girl approaches a woman (leader of an huge organization) and they talk alot. Then the woman points a gun to her head (right when the music starts), but is saved after her friend knocks off the gun. The woman goes to leave but the girl jumps in front of her and they both fight.

I suggest you post the symbols you're thinking about using, because chances are what you want to get tattooed is going to translate pretty funny...To say deaf people usually say 耳が聞こえない (mimi ga kikoenai)　or 耳が遠い (mimi ga tooi). Right now you might be thinking of getting the character "聾" tattooed but that probably isn't a good idea because it isn't used much and sometimes when it is it's used as an insult. You should also crosscheck the meaning of the character in Chinese, as some things that are OK in Japanese might get you laughed at by Chinese people.

その代わりに良く使われるのが、「不自由」という言葉。

耳が不自由。
目が不自由。
口が不自由。
足が不自由。
手が不自由。
体が不自由。

なんでもかんでもこれで済ませるのもどうかとは、思うけど、こっちの方がやわらかい表現であることは間違いないよ。

Yeah, that WAS the symbol I was going to use. Hmm, it's a good thing I inquired about it then. Are there any symbols that represent deaf or hard of hearing that are only 1-3 symbols? I don't want a ton of them behind my ear. Any ideas?

"deaf" does not always mean "physically-challenged". Sometimes it means you don't want to hear intentionally..does it? in that case...you can also say like this....

耳を傾け無い

so how about to eliminate hiragana, and write only in Kanji like......耳　傾　無

but sounds like it is no longer Japanese!! lol

あと、思いっきり身体的な言葉だけど、「難聴」って言う言葉もあるよね。
これは、少し前にちょっとだけ話題になった言葉。
ヘッドホンやイヤホンで、大音量の音楽を聴き続ける人に、「若年性難聴」が増えてるんだって。

ちなみに。かなめは以前、ライブハウスでスピーカーの真正面に２時間いて、一時的な難聴になったことがある

Aw thanks! Actually, the back of the neck IS painful, but I think the degree of pain would be similar to that of the ankle. I had a fairy done on my ankle last summer, and it hurt A LOT. I was tearing up but I promised myself I wouldn't cry. Mind you, you always accept a certain amount of pain when you get body modification done, right? The pain also depends on the size, colour and design. I'll post pictures of it later when it's done! =)

How was your trip with your family?

It was pretty good, at least the first half of the trip. Hokkaido was great because I planned it pretty carefully, we went to Otaru and some places..And then we went to Kyoto, saw lots of temples, shrines, stayed in a ryokan, etc...Tokyo was dissapointing though, the oriental bazaar was closed, the imperial palace was closed, and we didn't get to Akihabara in time to browse around alot.
By the way stopped by Nagoya twice while riding the shinkansen

Anyways there's lots (60+) pictures of my graduation and of Otaru & Kyoto etc on my xanga now

i'm going to Japan in 2 months! (hopefully nothing happens to me before i go.. so i don't get held back) i've only been learning japanese this past school year. hopefully i can speak a lil better before i go.
