I am not too sure of the correct name for them, basically a computer monitor that doubles as a TV? Does anyone have one? I am planning to get one but I can't seem to find many reivews for them (perhaps I don't know the technical name for them).

I know they come in 17" but for those that have them, would 19" be too small? Would I have to buy anything extra, cables or anything like that? I see the word "tv tuner" often, I've always been told that I don't need a new monitor, just buy a tv tuner cable or something and I should be able to use my monitor as a tv. I currently have cable, I was wondering if I could watch cable on that monitor? Are there all those places at the back that I could put those "av in" "av out" wires in? I hope I'm making sense. Also, would it be easy to record things from the tv into computer files? Or is that another HUGEEEEEEE problem.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I live in Australia and I'm not sure all the models are available here. I saw some nice samsung ones but I'm not sure how good they are.

k don't take my word for it, i'm not 100% sure, but if u want to use ur computer and watch tv while the computer is on, on the same monitor, just get a tv tuner card. i think u can also plug av in and av out as well. also do any of ur parents work for a company where they can salary sacrifice to buy the monitor? it works out a lot cheaper. get a 19" minimum, 17" is small these days, plus prices aren't that bad now.

You can buy a TV Tuner Card

or

Use a Television Set. nowadays, Video cards has a TV-out built-in in the card itself.

I saw a Samsung one, 19" for $700AUD, I thought that was very expensive. I think I might look into the option of gettign a TV tuner. Once I get that, would my monitor acts as a "Tv", as in could I connect a dvd player to it? Play games using consoles? Or is it simply a "tv".
