yes, i used the search options soompi has so kindly provided us and found this very lonely Australian music thread. and since a lot of people (yes 3 is considered a lot) wanted an Aussie music thread, HERE IT IS.
i shall start by complimenting covdy and saying Wolfmother are a kick-a$$ band and look & sound grouse live. i hope their follow-up album is just as good as their debut.
British Inida are becoming household names on Triple J (the BEST radio station for aussie music + no ads!). their song 'black and white radio' is really good and the bass player has a mad as quiff happening.
The Cops are another aussie band that are really good. they're more indie-rock/funk/electronica >> www.myspace.com/copsaustralia >> they play really catchy infectious pop tunes.
Bodyjar have been around for a l-o-n-g time (according to Wikipedia) and are pretty good. their song 'feeder' is good and was my first bodyjar song.
Operator Please are these teens from Queensland and they are just awesome. they've supported loads of well-known bands, which i am too tired to think of at the moment, but their Myspace should answer a lot of questions. their EP 'Cement Cement' was the best 5 bucks i've spent at JB.
Children Collide are also another up-and-coming aussie band and play some cool tunes like 'we are amphibious'. i like frogs.
Red Riders, a band from Sydney play some pretty catchy indie-pop songs and their album 'Replica Replica' is a great listen. they toured with The Living End and End of Fashion as well as Franz Ferdinand...so they must be good.
but i've been talking about new bands too much. let's give a round of applause to The Living End. the best aussie band around (though i may be a tad bit biased..). they are A-mazing live and Chirs Cheney is one bad-a$$ guitarist.
and check out The Drones as well. they've been played countless times on JJJ. and Jebediah have been around for a while, but their vocalist Kevin Mitchell (aka Bob Evans as many people know him by) has been touring around Oz with his album 'Suburban Songbook'. Jebediah have a really rawsome (raw and awesome) sound and just sound grouse.
yes, thats enough plugging of aussie bands from me so...please, share and discuss the phenomenon that is Aussie music! =]
(btw, you can find out more about these bands by searching them on Myspace)

Right now I'm loving Jet, Rogue Traders and a few more but I can't think of their names at the moment... OH J Wess Project. But they haven't done anything for a while, so I dunno what they're doing.

I recommend:
-Augie March
There's something special about their songs, the lyrics seem to resonate within me every time I listen to them.
-Gyroscope
Good punk when you're looking for something fast.
