I lost my cell phone yesterday
and I alr suspended my phone line. My service provider (Cingular) told me that I can either: 1)Get a new phone half price or free if I upgrade my family plan or 2)Buy it @ retail store for full price. But I'm wondering can I bought one from other sources for cheaper price and just bought the SIM card from retail? Also, can I keep the same phone # when I reactivate the line? Thanks

Will you can buy another phone at a cheaper price if you really want to. As long as it can work on your network then you will be fine. The only thing if it isn't a Cingular phone and it breaks down on you then Cingular won't be able to help you. You will have to go back to whoever it is you bought it from and see if there is any Warranty on it and ship it back to them to fix.
See what phones Cingular will be able to offer you in your 1st option. You may find one you like and within a reasonable price limit for you.
As for the same number you will have to ask Cingular. I don't think it should be a problem.

youll definitely get the same number back. As for purchasing a cellphone, i reccomend buying one online, you can get a better phone than the phones cingular will offer you at full price.

yeah. you can buy any phones as long as it's a cingular phones or unlocked phones at any stores. it's not neccessarily a cingular store.
then buy a cingular sim card and update it. it's simple.
