How bad is using windex to clean the entire car with and how does it harm the car? I cleaned my whole car with windex last week, and I never knew that I wasn't supposed to do that until someone told me. Did using windex just one time really ruin my car a lot? Or is it OK since I only used it once?

Well i'm guessing its bad for your car cuz it has chemicals in there that could possibly ruin your clearcoat.

If you're gonna wax the car right after you wash and dry, I recommend using dish soap.

If not, just use some soap for cars like cinnabunny suggested.

doesnt windex have alcohol and ammonia in it? It could mess up your paint...might not see it short term but long term your paint will probably fade much faster than normal.

FAQ page:

Can I use Windex® on my vehicle windows?
Yes, but it is best to clean automobile windows with Windex® cleaners when the surface is cool and out of direct sunlight whenever possible. You can use it on glass, chrome, stainless steel, plastic, and vinyl surfaces. You should avoid painted surfaces. On tinted windows, test in an inconspicuous spot first, since there are different qualities of tint. We recommend using Windex® Multi Task Wipes with Vinegar on tinted windows. Do not use on after-market tinted windows.

Wow Windex on the car? Make sure you read the instructions next time because it is only meant for windows. Jphase is right about the windows. They ruin your tinted windows, and I heard it makes them turn purple as well.

I would wash the car and wax it to make sure the effects of the Windex don't take place if there is any.

I think the chemical in windex will burn your clear coat on your paint if it touches it. Buy car window cleaner, thats what is made for. I like using "stoner" brand, it makes my glass look invisible.
not on soompi as much as I used to be...

What I do is, I get my "Absorber"(works like a charm) to dry my car.

When i'm drying my windows i just open my doors, wring the water out, and wipe the windows.

By doing so it doesnt leave any water marks or any smears.
