Can we narrow it down a little?

How many speakers? 2, 2.1, or 5.1?

How much power do you want? Do you want to be able to rumble the whole house?

Whats your budget? $50 $100 $150+?

2.1 would be enough, no need to be able to rumble the whole house since I'm only using this in my small room sweatingbullets.gif

My budget would be around $50 - $70 , don't want to waste too much on a little speaker. smile.gif

I think i bought my old one, which was the Creative Inspire T3000 for $50 dry.gif the stupid thing dies.

Thanks for you help. smile.gif

My dad has the logitech x230 in the living room on his computer http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-2-Piece-Spe...p;s=electronics I don't think its too bad but compared to the set you had, it might not be as powerful (looking at wattage).

The Z-2300 set
http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-THX-Certifi...p;s=electronics
Is out of your price range but I have always wanted these. I like the bass from them but it is a tad large. The sub is approximate a one foot cube sad.gif Its a bit expensive now, sometimes you can get it with a $50 rebate with $20ish shipping for about $70 total.

But hang around to get the input of others since I haven't replaced my speakers for a long while. I have had my Cambridge Soundworks (creative owns that company now) set for about 8 years.

I have the speakers that awdark mentioned in the first link. They are good, I've had them for a couple of months and it's really good for a small room. Although I wish I spent $60 on the same type with more speakers at Sams Club. -.-"

My brother has a 4.1 set and I don't like it very much because he just has a small pile of speakers on his desk and I think its just a big waste of space. Can you hear the difference like that? Nope because they are all coming from right there. If you were to wire them properly with the back speakers behind you and all the effect is wonderful but who would put speakers behind your chair?

There are many who say woo why not go for more speakers... but I like the simplicity of 2.1

If you don't want your whole house rumbling (and you like to listen to music)
i'd say, take the zalman 5.1 headset (i dont know if zalman is an international product) but, like the name says, its a headset with 5.1 built in. ^^

5.1 is a gimmick on headphones, and apparently the zalmans are rubbish.

well, the headphone has a couple of extra speakers inside, which gives you the surround-effect

I think I would go for the 2.1. I just found the Creative I-Trigue 3300 at Wal-Mart for $54.88 .

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=2158040

Don't know if that one is good. But it looks pretty decent, let me check the reviews biggrin.gif

thanks for ur suggestions. I might go for the Logitech X=230, cheap and good ^^
