It's pretty hard to find a camera for under $100.
I am the minority here.

depends on what you want to use it for, but I am completely brand-loyal to the canon powershot line.. the A60 model was my first digicam and it was a great camera.. I must have dropped it 80 times and it lasted... until finally getting dropped on concrete sad.gif but replaced with the A530 and it's never given me any problems.

but yes like tepper said, it's going to be hard to find any camera under $100..

oohh but just cause I was curious, check this out: under $100 at walmart, under $150 at target

you wont find a canon camera under 100 but maybe you don't even want one.

your best bet would be finding a used cam or just wait until next week and wait in line at circuit city, best buy, compusa at 2am for the mad rush on black friday...

^ Yes. Sales are beautiful.
So I would go stores REAL early after thanksgiving.
Then yeah, you can probably get a camera for $100 or less.

Like everyone said, it's hard to find a dc under $100.

I checked the Best Buy website and the Canon - PowerShot 5.0MP Digital Camera A530 is on sale for $150. I personally haven't used the PowerShot before but I have used Canon before. Canon is a reputable brand and they make professional cameras.

I think it's really worth it to spend a bit more on a dc because you do want something that last a few years. For example, the Canon Powershot SD series are quite worth it and they aren't that expensive either ($250-$300+), and they look quite nice too.

under 100? sweatingbullets.gif

if you ever do change ur mind about the price, i suggest you get canon because they're cameras are really good. i myself, have a cannon. and also try to get a camera with big lens, because the cameras with little lens break more easily.

for $100, your requirements are pushing it.
you want a good camera that will last a few years so invest.

i have canon sd450 and it's an awesome camera... compact, quality pictures and decent size screen. i got it back in august for 280. it's been replaced by sd600 (6 megapixels) which if you look around on internet, you can get for around $220. i recommend!

There are many generic brand cameras out there under 100$, but the quality of such cameras may be suspect. Also for such a price don't expect anything over 5 mpx, and possibly no optical zoom. Maybe by now you've already bought one (considering last week was Black Friday), but you may want to look at some cheaper Kodak or Samsung brands, for instance there's a simple model @ office max (Link) for $130, which luckily still has optical zoom. I'm sure you'll find cheaper than that at such stores as Fry's or when there's sales @ retail stores.

most people prefer canon... I used to work at an electroics store and I asked the people what's the diff between cameras? he said not much, mostly brand name
optical image stablizer's good if you have a lot of zoom.. but you want a compact one, so it doesn't quite matter...
megapixals.. you probably won't need more than 4 if your printing regular photos...

um.. Don't spend to much because in a few months, the price will drop... But I don't know what you can buy for only $100... I think you have to spend twice as much to get a decent one

stablizers good even on compacts. especially when everything/everyone is moving so fast that you cant take your time for a steady shot. IS can also do wonders when panning shots as well. i think it's a handy feature. it wont do miracles, but it's very nice to have.

also, for people that like to crop their shots because zoom was not enough, or want to recompose their shot by cropping, it would help to have a few more megapixels so you wont lose to much detail when printing on regular 4x6.

Don't go megapixel crazy.

Honestly, three/four should be fine if you're only going to be printing regular sized photos.

I still have my 2 megapixel camera from four years ago and the picture quality is better than my cousin's 600$ sony dica from Japan that's like 7 megapixels. -___-

Higher megapixels dont mean better quality.

please do not PM me asking me to close threads, etc! i am no longer a mod! ^^ thanks!

$100 can get you an okay nobrand digicam (like at Frys..probably 2~3mp)

egh i spent like $350 one of casio's exilim models when it came out.. (lcd of 2.7?) but it's not as clear as casio. now the prices of the casios are plummeting anyways =_=;
