[Sorry if there's a thread for this already - it's SO HOT!]

Description from http://www.joinred.com/products.asp?p=5
"Music matters. And when you buy an iPod nano (PRODUCT) RED™ Special Edition, it matters even more. That's because Apple contributes $10 from your purchase price to the Global Fund, to help fight HIV/AIDS in Africa.

Sleek and lightweight, the iPod nano (PRODUCT) REDTM delivers everything you'd expect from the world's best-selling digital music player. In 4GB and 8GB models, it holds up to 2,000 songs. A brilliant, 1.5-inch color display shows off album art and up to 25,000 photos. Up to 24 hours of battery life gives you longer listening. Seamless iTunes integration lets you import your CDs, shop for 99¢ songs on the iTunes Store, then sync them in minutes. And a durable anodized aluminum enclosure tells the world you've chosen to join (RED).

The iPod nano (PRODUCT) RED™ is available at Apple Store retail locations and the Apple Store online at www.apple.com/store."

Comments:
Good cause and a hot color...I just might actually stop hating on Apple and get me one of these happy.gif 8GB!
Is it worth it? Or is there a better mp3 player out there w/the same or bigger storage capacity for this size?
And does anyone know for how long are they offering these? (I think this has been out since mid-October)

I don't know how long the red nano will be out. I think the Sandisk Sansa e200 is better than the nano, in terms of functions of quality. The Sansa has pictures, video(I know the screen is small, but hey, it has one), FM radio, music, and video recorder. The NANO has none of those functions. Plus, it's cheaper if you look in the right places. The nano is slimmer but the sansa isn't fat and bulky.

Oh ya, just to mention I have the Sansa that I mentioned and it's really good. Accessories are coming out for it to just like the ipods have.

Yeah, I've been looking at the Sansa e280: http://www.sandisk.com/Products/Item(2057)...Player_8GB.aspx
It even has a microSD slot for up to 2GB, making the Sansa the largest capacity flash player on the market at the moment. The features are looking pretty nice...

good cause, nice color, but only 10$? I think they can afford to give out more. Should do it for the video too to give people more options, but I don't think a red video would look very good.

I KNOW! I was so excited when I found out it came in 8GB too, because I wasn't too found of the matte black thing they have going for the 8GB ( = boring).

Totally agree. Gap's donating like 50% of the proceeds of each product from their (PRODUCT)^RED line. So that $60 fleece zip-up [http://www.gap.com/b...862&pid=440931] I was eyeing doesn't sound so badly priced when I know that $30/60 is going to the fund.

Then again, one has to think about how much it takes to manufacture an iPod vs. a clothing item rolleyes.gif That labor ain't cheap wink.gif

I bought one because not many people had red. I didn't buy it because of the HIV/AIDS thing. I think they can give WAY more than $10 see as a) It costs less than $20 to make cool.gif Last holiday season they sold over 14 million iPods.
