It feels a bit brutal when you open it.
You have to kinda squish the back of the ipod to try to get it to give you a little edge to work with.
Both with the flat linear compression and a sheer compression...

Hopefully when you go left and right it gives you a little gap to work with.
The first IPod I took apart I actually bought from soompi here. It was broken and I just wanted to take it apart... So I REALLY squished it along the edge (side) and a little gap appeared (metal seperated from plastic). Stuck in a guitar pick and worked all around it to pop it open.

they did give me a thin flat-head screw. I seriously can't manage to open it. I'm a decently strong guy too... Are there any places that could open it for me for a fee?

I guess you can visit your local ipod center for help or any place that's selling ipods.
