I got a notice in the mail for a defective auto transmission on my '00 Accord. Supposebly it could drop from 5th to 2nd gear.
But I've been searching through tech service bulletins, recall sites, etc. and I have not found a single notice like this. Should I take it seriously?

is yours a 6 cylinder with 5 speed auto? the previous gen hondas with 6 cylinders auto tranny all have a design flaw. That goes for previous gen Hondas (all 5 speed autos): Acoord V6, CL and CL-S, TL and TL-S, earlier MDX, Odyssey. And no, the oil jet recall honda issued does not do anything to fix the problem.

If they sent that notice to you, take it to the dealer. You don't want to be driving around in it years later only to have the car have serious problems.
