Question About Computers

I don't know much about computers so I decided to ask my questions here: What's the difference between RAM and hard drive capacity? Is there a big difference between a 1GB and a 2GB RAM? If so what? Also is there a big difference between a 80 GB and a 120 GB hard drive capacity? I hope someone can answer my questions... Thanks a lot!

ram is like temporary memory
hard drive capacity is actually storing stuff
for me i dont notice much of a difference between 1 and 2 gigs of ram, but it all depends on what u r doing
as for 80 gb and 120 gb harddrive, i always like having a large harddrive, but basically ur storing everything (music, videoes, etc) on the harddrive

Not exactly a help question so I guess it fits here okay.
Ram is memory chips used to store temporary information.
Windows would load onto your ram when the computer starts up so everything will run smoother. A good example of ram in action would be to open a program, you start it and it loads, but if you minimize it and expand it it doesn't load and almost opens back up instantly.
In terms of 1gb and 2gb, you might see the difference in games but not much else. You will see a big difference between 256 and 512 ram but 512 to a gig not much.
The hard drive size only really makes a difference in terms of how much you can save and store. Like if you have a movie you save that will go to the hard drive.
