i don't think either are very good . the japanese ones i've seen were all comedies , whereas the korean ones i've seen have all been sad .

the japanese ones seemed a bit pointless , and the korean ones were REALLY repetative . i preferred the japanese ones , because even though they were frivolous , they weren't annoying . but i'm trying to compare opposite genres , which doesn't really work .

i don't really like either .

hahaha, the Japanese dont stand a chance against the Koreans when it comes to making dramas. Korean drama's absolutely own them.

Thats why Korean Drama's are really famous in Japan as well. So many Japanese watch Korean dramas (or at least thats what i hear)

But one thing i really respect the japanese for is Anime and Manga xD
Japanese Anime and Manga are BRILLIANT and Koreans love them!

Anime like Shaman King and Candy (which are very oldschool) or SlamDunk were/are phenomenal hits in Korea

HAhahah^

that can be so true sometimes xD

When our family start watching a drama, we are so used to people dying and stuff that upon the first episode (before anyone got diseases/etc) we can already start predicting "he'll probably die", etc.

But the most recent drama's are starting to turn away from that cliche of dying people. The TV stations in Korea have become aware that the audience are starting to get bored of super-depressing plots where all the main characters die and live in agony (hahaa, kinda reminds of me of Shakespeare's tragedies..im wondering whether that is the source of inspiration that the Korean storywriters get)

Take DaeJangGeum (대장금), or as the Chinese like to call it ("Jewel in the palace" <--Yucky name!) for instance. That has a somewhat refreshing, deep plot without having to make u cry every single time, lol

And there are heaps and heaps of other soaps and dramas which are not as famous to non-Koreans, but nevertheless they are HILARIOUS!! SO DAMNED FUNNY. But the thing is, some of the funny elements are only funny if you know Korean fluently and the culture/history coz they are within the language.

The sad ones are especially famous, coz being depressed of a loved one is something anyone of any language can relate to and understand

Um I'll have to go with Japanese dramas. There's more originality in them, I think.

i dont think japanese dramas get translated into viet and if they do then i've never seen one.
i usually watch korean and chinese ones, korean ones are really good but yeah they do all sorta have a common plot.
chinese ones are all really corny but the plots vary which is also good

I'm learning more torwards J-Dorama (and if you can't already tell, I'm favoring Japanese Dramas by calling them J-Dorama's) since I have seen more of it but I haven't really seen any K-Dramas so I don't know.

But the J-Doramas that I have seen..
GTO Drama
Summer Snow
To Heart
Beauty or Beast
Otousan
Densha Otoko
Gokusen 1
Gokusen 2
Trick 1 (partial)
Hana Yori Dango

Out of all those, I loved watching them all (with the exception of To Heart and Otousan...I just needed something to watch XD). But yeah, I tend to learn more torwards J-Doramas since I'm more into the Japanese scene than Korean.

I don't watch Japanese dramas, & I gave up Korean dramas.
Korean storylines are so cliche .. .
