Not a lot of movements this week. The biggest mover is MC Mong's song, only up 3 spots. However, we do have 6 new songs entering the top 20 this week, and 3 of these debuted into the top 10. Because the scores of the top 6 songs this week are quite far ahead of the rest, that enables songs with lower scores to debut into the top 10.
The highest debut at No. 8 is the veteran rock group Jaurim. The title song of their 6th album "You and Me" is our highest debut this week. It is their first album in nearly 2 years. Lead singer Kim Yoon-Ah wrote and produced this song which is about lovers' relationships. The theme of this song is about peoples trouble when it comes to communicating. This song was produced by each and every one of their band member’s instruments (Electric guitar, drum, key board).
At. No. 9 is ex-H.O.T. member Jang Woo Hyuk's "폭풍속으로" (One Way). Jang Woo Hyuk recently released his 2nd solo album. This song continues his style of strong dance and hip-hop melody. Let see if this song can duplicate the success of his first solo hit last year "지지 않는 태양" (The Sun that doesn't set), which went all the way to No. 1.
The last top 10 debut is a surprise. It is from the R&B singer nicknamed "The Name". Some of you may remembered his debut song "The Name" 4 years ago. Even though the song was not popular, but it featured a mega production movie-like MV, starring Tony Leung of Hong Kong, Jun Do Hyun and Ryu Seung Bum of Korea. The Name is back after an extended hiatus. This time he did much better with the song "사랑은…" (Love Is...) which debuted straight into the top 10 at No. 10. He got help from the hot songwriting team of Cho Young Soo and Ahn Young Min, who scored yet another top 10 hit. This year, Cho and Ahn have written many top hits for SG Wannabe, See Ya, KCM, Kim Jong Kook, and Jung Jae Wook.
Sun Ho Young's "운다" (Crying) has fallen off the chart this week, but his G.O.D. teammate Kim Tae Woo entered the chart at No. 13 with "하고싶은 말" (Words That I Want To Say). It is officially Kim Tae Woo's first solo hit, even though he's been featured on 2 songs before: MC Mong's "I Love You, Oh Thank U", and SuHo's "봄여름가을겨을" (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter).
The fifth new entry at No. 19 is perhaps the song with the best potential to move up. It's Se7en's "라 라 라" (La La La). Don't be misled by the low entry position. The album sales (2 weeks lag) have not even been accounted for this song yet, and it is already entering our chart. Expect a big move next week. Rarely has a Korean artist released 2 new solo albums in one year. Se7en just released his 3rd album this Spring, and he's coming back fast with his 4th album. This album has a lot more ballads than his previous albums. La La La is also a mid-tempo R&B ballad, which is suitable for winter listening. It is written and produced by Teddy of 1TYM.
The last new song at No. 20 is Se7en's YG labelmate Big Mama. The female R&B quartet is well known for their powerful vocal. Their new song "Never Mind" is the title song from their recently released 3rd album "For The People". "Never Mind" is a very energetic song that is filled with encouraging messages. Big Mama members will individually show their own style of music/singing. "Never Mind" is a very airy song that will have the people go on a journey from the start to end of the song. As you listen to the song, you'll be able to get into the rhythm. It's a fast upbeat song. "Never mind" was produced by 'Lee Hyun-Jung, who also produced "Break Away" (2003) and "Woman" (2005).
