Alright, well I've been doing gymnastics for about 8 years
And I agree, you probably should start near a wall so you don't fall over. First, find out which is your "good leg" like whichever leg you are best at cartwheeling with or starting a sprint with. Put that leg in front(like 3 ft from the wall), bend it, then you hold out your arms above your head about shoulder-width. Then all you have to do is push off strongly with the bent leg and turn yourself over haha =) WIth practice you'll find out how much force is necessary..I can't really type that sort of thing out ^^; but I hope I could help in some way!

If you want to do it like breakdancers do you need to learn how to do a handstand first, once you have that down you have to figure out what arm of yours is the strongest and do a one handed handstand. It's hard to explain how a breakdancer does it.
If you really want to you can go to a dancestudio during a breakdance/hip hop class and watch them then ask someone to teach you how, that is if you have a dancestudio near you that has hiphop/breakdance classes.

can you do a cartwheel or a round off?? if you can...
then the easiest thing (in my opinion) is to start off in the beginning position
and then kind of start in a cartwheel but do it against a wall and doing that will help you get a sense of wat it feels like to hold yourself up in a handstand...
you dont have to do that...but thats wat i did to do handstands...now i can do it without a wall! v(^.^)v

yeah
i forgot how i did it when i started but it's a good idea to start next to a wall
and if you lose balance try to use the wall to get back up
eventually your muscles will strengthen and you'll be able to balance more easily, specifically the tris
> _>;;
and then you'll get to a point you dun need the wall, and if you do happen to fall you can just land back on your feet
and you definately should be able to hold a normal handstand comfortably before trying to do one handed freezes
