As much as I love cars, I absolutely LOVE electronics. And when it comes to electronics, I'm a total Sony Buff. All my TV's, DVD players, and computers are Sony. I've owned 5 Sony VAIO Laptops in the past 4 years and I bought a new N150G Sony VAIO Laptop 4 days ago.

Anyways, TODAY I just splurged myself and got the new Sony VAIO UX280P Micro PC!! This thing is unreal. With the top of the line warranty, docking station, and accesories, it came out close to $3000.00 but boy is this the mother load of high tech sh*t.

Just to give you a jist of what features it has:

Super Crisp 4.5" Touch Widescreen
1.2GHz Intel Centrino
1GB of RAM
Windows XP Professional SP2
Integrated Wireless LAN
Intergrated Wireless WAN (Connects to the Internet ANYWHERE you are!)
Bluetooth
Biometric Fingerprint Sensor (Fingerprint Access)
2 Built-In Cameras
Built-In Microphone
Built-In Navigation System
Keyboard
USB Ports
Memory Stick Slots
1.2lbs!!
Etc.

It came with a 6 month free Cingular Wireless WAN connection. I can connect to the internet anywhere I go. Anywhere. I'm actually posting up this EXACT thread with my new Micro PC in the car. Cool eh?

Some people may think its not practical because it's too small, but there is a ZOOM in button if it gets hard to read for bad eyes.

I can take pictures or video clips and upload them onto Photbucket or YouTube right then and there with the same device. I can listen to any of my 1000+ MP3's on Winamp. I can watch Movies. I can plug this onto my Monitor or my HDTV at home. Basically anything I can do with a laptop, but on the go. This is one of the sickest things I've ever owned, other than my M3. Technology ROCKS!! w00t.gif

Ah, thats nice. Keyboard looks like a better design than the Origami. Easy to type?

If I ever get a job... im getting something like that. Then again... my pocket pc can do about half of that... and I won't be able to afford the wan service anyways ($60/mo is a bit steep)

So does it have like a quick standby/shutdown so you can quickly power it up?
Hows the battery life?

I would get it if it had PCMCIA slot for my Wireless WWAN with Sprint. Adwark, the battery life sucks on it. You can barely watch a 2 hour movie on it. However, considering it's size one shouldn't expect much more. I would still get it if I was able to get my Sprint connection on it. Micro PC are getting better and better but I still don't think they are quite there yet. Nonetheless, it's def a worthy gadget and glad to see M3tor2nR is so excited about it.

Too bad the thing only supports EDGE with Cingular.

1) Edge sucks
2) Cingular sucks

haha...

I get about 3-4 hours of battery life.

And yes, there is a quick standby or hybernation mode too.

^ I'm not sure what you do on it, but I know a couple of people who have it and the thing barely lasts 2.5-3 hours when using wireless + browsing internet. Any kind of (multi)media function just roughly 2-2.5 hours. I assume if all one does is work on local documents, it can hit the 4 hour mark.

Perhaps bigger, newer battery. Better CPU throttling, perhaps... underclocked CPU and newer lower voltage cpus.. (assuming sony updates to those)

Seems fun... I can dream about that wwan and those wireless broadband services but I know I wont be able to afford that any time soon. Ill stick to wifi whenever I can find a hotspot or sit at home to go online until then.

Eh anyways it still has the wow factor... all I want is a ~$600ish laptop.

Sorry as much as small sizes are the new 'in' thing for technology nowadays i still like to type stuff properly... it would be very uncomfortable for me to type on that thing.

You can hook up ur TV or monitor to this device as well as your keyboard. There you have a full PC. Plus you can unplug it and take it with you anywhere you go.

Just to name a few things you can do with this thing... You can access all your videos, tv episodes, and music from your 500gb at home, and have instant access to it all, right in the palm of your hand. You can use it as a remote to your entire A/V/home automation equiptment, etc.... You can mount it in your car and use it as a NAVI. It's small enough to replace your ipod. You can have webcam chats with your friends in the palm of your hand. You can have VOIP Video calls. You take pictures or video clips and upload them onto YouTube for everyone to see. The list just goes on and on. Plus it's just pimp.

I'm posting all this up at McDonalds waiting for my food. It's just a really cool toy for me. I already have many laptops at home for me to type papers and reports on. wink.gif

Wow congrats on your purchase. I remember seeing that before getting my current Vaio. I really love Sony electronic products and especially my Sony laptop. If I had the money, I would of gotten a Sony Vaio Ux Micro.

Ooh nice. I have a TX350P and a TR2A that I sold. I love the small T-series Laptops. I was planning to buy the new TX but decided on this bad boy. It's just too cool. biggrin.gif

Sony rocks.
