I remember seeing Ronin Warriors for the first time in 1995 0or 96 on the wb11 6:30 in the morning and falling in love with it
then I think I saw Dragon Ball (original) on the same station the same time on Saturday mornings
yup as well as Sailor Moon, I think those were the better days, I was apart of the Pokemon mania when it first came out, I was in the 7th grade smile.gif and who can forget Dragon Ball Z? I also remember catching Techno man here and there and every saturday on Sci-fi channel they showed anime movies

I loved those days, but I think Rurouni Kenshin, Saiyuki, Knight Hunters and Cowboy Bebop along with a couple of others are the last great animes that I've seen
(close to perfect for Rurouni Kenshin) now there are so many overrated animes like Bleach, Naruto, etc trying to give off that amazing Dragon Ball Z impression and it is not happening I barely watch anime these days cuz it's so boring, I admit once DBZ got into the Majin Buu saga I started to get so bored of it but I had to watch it, GT was aight but up the cell saga it was DBZ at it's finest
I know that DB is damn near 20 right? anyways, I miss those days when anime was not as big as it is.

Yeah, it was pretty much the same in the U.S. Pokemon was really the first big thing anime related to hit the States. I was in 5th or 6th grade, I think. Possibly even 7th. Don't remember X_X I used to watch Voltron with my brother when I was really little, though. And I remember Macross, too laugh.gif I was so happy when AS put Voltron on again...Even if it is at 5:30 a.m. The cheesy voice acting only makes it more of a classic...Haha laugh.gif But yeah, I certainly remember watching Sailor Moon and learning about this thing called 'anime' and having virtually no one know what it was. And now it's like every other person does. Not necessarily a bad thing, though laugh.gif

I got introduced to anime by watching Ronin Warriors, too. It was awesome. I even bought some of the action figures and it was cool how you can put on their armor and everything.

After that I picked up Trigun and Cowbow Bebop; Bebop being my personal favorite of all time.

I used to watch Naruto and Bleach, but when Naruto started showing those fillers, I stopped watching them both and I haven't watched anime ever since sad.gif. But yeah, I prefer the oldies.

Sailor Moon was airing in Australia since 1994

Pokemon came to Australian TV around Early 1998
then Neon Genesis Evangelion was being Aired on Australian TV later that year

then DBZ came out around 1999 and from there on , all these other titles followed

Digimon , ZOIDS , Bubblegum Crisis

^ Creds To Mori , Jolin Tsai is still a sexy fox
Cyworld

I took one look at Naruto and it turned me off, same as Bleach that's why I watch neither one of them.

Oldies for me I <3 Gundam Wing, it aint that old...but I love it, best Gundam ever

gundam wing, while i like the characters and the gundam themselves, the story was rather weak in comparison to seed. a lot of ppl are put off by naruto and bleach, maybe cos they are super popular, i dunno. cowboy bebop is ok, it never grabbed my attention, but its all opinion on wat u like. i loved the early episodes of naruto. bleach had a medicore start though.

Lol really??

I wanted to slap Keira's face in Seed cus he was crying constantly like a baby girl
but I like Heero, he was tough as heck even though I thought he was a bastard, but Duo Maxwell owned them all with that sexy Death Scyth of his blush.gif

but wow I hated DBZ at first and oneday I caught it on Midnight Run and got addicted when Raditz stole Gohan

and that's another thing Toonami used to be so good, now it's lame as hell.

dubbed Naruto was the worst, imo. I also didnt like how Bleach was dubbed.

watching subbed Naruto was good, but the moment Sasuke disappeared I stopped watching it. there are still lots of good animes (Suzumiya, School Rumble, zegapain, etc.) that US/Canada should be exposed to. although, I'm dreadful once they get dubbed. I'm not criticising Western voice actors, but I feel that the character adjusts to the voice actor instead of the VA adjusting to the character.

sailor moon was probably the first anime here that was popular

i dont know if you can call transformers an anime, but that was pretty big here too.

i've been trying to watch some different animes, and death note is pretty good and interesting. you might want to check that out

Have you tried/seen/heard of KyoAni's Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu? it's highly praised by many anime-lovers (although some claim it's overrated dry.gif ) It's quite short, very well-animated, plotline's unique and boasts a very good list of voice actors!

try any Kyoto Animation's series. they're very good at making animes (I think they're doing another adaptation of Kanon).

I'm not sure how you characterize a quality anime but SuzuHaruhi, for me, is one of the best if not the very best. if you havent tried it, try watching episode 0 and 1. smile.gif

Bebop, hands down, the strongest out of anything thats been out the past few years.

Naruto is akin to popmusic. Its trash but ppl like it.

not really...the anime scene is much better now. we get exposure to so many more series now because of the internet and fansubbing while back then we had to rely on crappy edited dubs on tv. and what makes you think dbz, sailor moon, pokemon, and gundam wing weren't overrated back then? i think that's the case with all those shows even now. they were important for setting trends and creating popularity for anime but it doesn't make them great shows. new anime is going towards the moe fanservice trend which sucks, but it doesn't mean everything back then was extremely great either. if you gave certain new shows a chance, you'd see that there are quality shows.

Well IMO the scene hasnt gotten better
but when I watch older animes I never I saw I like those alot.

and compared to Naruto??? Sailormoon was not overrated, maybe was overrated DBZ but I think that it did deserve the praise and hype. I think Gundam was kinda overrated but I think it was a fantasic cartoon and it lived up to my expectations

But I've tried these new animes and they are sooo repititive it's so boring, I'm sure there are some great recent animes, they are just hard to find.

No matter what I still prefer the older ones in the states.

and BTW no one laugh, but I prefer my anime Dubbed cuz that's what I' used to, that's how I've seen it all my life

ok i agree about Naruto!

but Bleach is good!

ok i admit it was kinda crap to begin with and the storyline was a bit ehh but its all good now.

you're missing out.

the action/adventure anime are so much better than the comedic/romantic ones, well thats what i find anyway.
