I heard DBSG's Jae Joong used to be a horrible singer and got rejected by entertainment companies. Then he practiced a LOT and got accepted by SM entertainment. How is it possible that someone can become that good? He is a really good singer and I can't believe that he was ever a bad singer, I mean I heard it was the point of him being almost tone-deaf...

i also heard he was a bad singer from a different thread, it was a question somebody was asking like you though. i don't think he was ever a bad singer, cause he was pretty young when he auditioned, and he sounded very nice. and it might be a rumour... cause you know how people get with celebrities.

but... hmm... i guess practicing can improve your singing, but i believe that you need to have a hidden talent to bring it out. you know how like a talent may be dormant until it's like.. forced out? lol... w.e. jaejoong is a great singer~! i love him the most out of dbsk, and that's saying quite a lot cause i adore every single one of them. ^-^

i think a good way to try to improve is to practice difficult songs (stick to a select few) for a period of time and you will see the improvement...and then once you've "mastered" those songs...move on to even more difficult ones...*shrugs*

Well. I watched some interview of JJ i dont remembeer which one. He said before he wasnt a very good singer, then he said he kept on practicing ALOT and that's when he tried out for SM.
I guess to improve u need to practice more. Im a horrible singer but im practicing xP

I'm pretty much repeating what others have said, but yeah there's no doubt that Jaejoong was once, at the very least, a below average singer. He's talked about it himself in interviews. And I don't remember whether I read this specific detail in an actual article or in a fan report, but supposedly he was bad to the point that his classmates made fun of him whenever he had to sing.

I do know that he said he spent hours upon hours daily, practicing to get better (again, this is something he himself has said). Apparently hard work and extreme dedication--he was working towards becoming an actual singer, not just singing for the sake of singing--and inspiration can actually go a long way.

I know he was poor and had resort to desperate measures just to get enough money for food and shelter so I'm pretty sure he didn't have a tutor or a singing instructor up until he actually passed his SM audition.

(off topic, but even while most seem to believe Junsu's the better singer now, I think there's a reason why Jaejoong sings lead--Junsu has great technique, but Jaejoong's range is wider and he can hit more notes than Junsu can. so it's pretty remarkable that he went from what he called "tone deaf" to where he is now, completely on his own, when Junsu's been honing his skills with teachers and whatnot since he was in elementary school)

he was a TERRIBLE singer LMAO like he was tone deaf. and he constantly went to voice training with his own money and fixed it . my friend she went to my junior high was EXACTLY the same she REALLIE likes singing but sheSTINKED. so she took lessons and now she's in like the top schools for performing arts. ehe

He said that he was once tone deaf... after he got rejected soo many times he practiced and practiced and then he became good enough for SM to take jaejoong....

^ exactly. he auditioned for Sm and got rejected and after hours and months of practicing he auditioned again and got in. i bet people who made fun of him feel like idiots now

yeahh i saw some youtube clip of this a long time ago~

he was talking about how his friends were making fun of him for not singing well so he went home and practiced a lot

and then he went into his sm audition and he got hte best looks and singing talent out of 5000 people i believe

just comes to show that practice can help haha
