Include how you're a leader in the community, any volunteering or helping others, good school work, goals/ambitions.

At my school, you need a 3.5 GPA and you need to fill out an application form. It was fun while it lasted.

wow! i think my school, we need 3.5 GPA.. but the application is soooo tedious. we have to write 4 essays, get 3 recommendations, a sheet w/ ratings from 5 diff people, and fill out a chart for service, extracurriculars, character, and something else.

by the end, half the ppl decided not to even apply because it was so annoying.

but for your essay, write about your leadership roles, how you help the community, and how you're active in school.

Unless you plan on holding a position in NHS, there isn't much of a point in joining.

Well, that was my school anyway.

^NHS pretty much is a scam in my school. we're required to participate in two extra curricular activities OR do 30 hours of community service. [along with the 3.5 gpa or whatever it is] some of the dumbest people get in at my school, and they reject the ones who should really be in it [and boy are they ticked]. the applications are so bothersome, but people still do it to put on college apps and graduate with the cords.

oh ya i forgot about the chords. people do it either because its an easy club to get into if you have the qualifications and for the chord at graduation. of course if you have an older friend or sibling, you can just use their special chords if they have them.

O_O We dont really use the 4.0 GPA scale, but rather a score out of 100%.. So the qualifications are 85%+.. Which is easy..

Then, you get an aplpication form and we had to write a 75-100 word blurb about how you help in your community or whatever...

uhm O_O I wrote moer than I need to.. but yeha. Pretyt much everyone that tries to fill the application out and writes something makes it..

But yeah O_O not the best thing ever, but XD if you still need something... ?

QUOTE(HUAY)
I am honored to have been selected as an applicant for the National Honor Society at Rome Free Academy. I have always had a passion for community service; it has always contented me to lend a helping hand to those who needed it. Ever since I was old enough to join the Rome Chapter of the Red Cross Youth Corps, until the present day, I have always been in at least one organization which served its community.

This year, I am continuing my membership in a myriad of clubs, ranging from Strolling Strings and Art Club to Peer Leaders and Peer Mentoring. I feel that I am a qualified student for the National Honor Society because I have leadership qualities. Although I am not always talkative, I can express my ideas and help others share theirs. I am also aware of how to lead body of students in the direction of success. I currently hold positions in several clubs; I am the founder and president of the Asian Culture Club, which I began in ninth grade, and I am the 2006-2007 New York District Key Club Lieutenant Governor for Division 19.

Despite the amount of clubs I am already in, and the amount of homework I receive, I will be able to incorporate the National Honor Society in my agenda. Being a part of the organization would enrich my life as well as my school and community because there are areas that the clubs I already participate in are unable to reach. It would be a pleasure to assist as many people as possible, not just in the school and the community, but beyond.

I believe that help is always needed somewhere; there will never be a perfectly abundant supply of help in the world. However, it is important that everyone tries their best to assist others as much as possible. Every dollar donated and every minute dedicated can help make the world a better place. As mentioned before, I am more than delighted when I am able to help out others. Therefore, I would be not only honored, but grateful, to be inducted into the National Honor Society.

Btw O_O this is like the unedited version i think.. i added stuff/fixed stuff at school and saved it there but yeah.. anyway;

I just wrote about how my volunteering helped me get more leadership skills and etc. etc. Basically just wrote whatever came into my head at the time wink.gif
But yeah, like a lot of people have already said, NHS is pretty much useless in my school, unless you're an officer. It's probably one of the biggest clubs in the school since everyone's there vicx.gif

our school requires
3.65 but tahts just prelim who gets the application [our "A" is 94% and above]
then we write essays
and then fill in like.. our activities number of hours etc.

only 13 of us got chosen [very.. selective?]
hahahaahahh

i wrote about how like i moved schools my sophomore year
but my grades have stayed consistently good.
just talk about like.. different situtionats that you've applied yourself in
like... diff clubs
and how u have.. succeeded or maintained a good reputation.. etc

just brag about urself.
i know its.. kinda hard.
but i know some of my friends wrote like..
an essay that didnt really talk about them much...
and.. they ddint get accepted.

That's what we have to do ontop of the fact that we still might not even get in. We aren't accpeted until the next semester.

And we need a 4.5 out of 6.
