DirectX 10 is not enough to pursuade you to buy it now since there aren't any games in the market right now that uses DirectX 10. By the time there are, you'll buy G84/G86 or the R600.

One NVIDIA 8800 owns Quad-SLI 7900GTX.

G84/G86 are lower end cards
G81 maybe soon after R600's release

"A single GeForce 8800 GTX is more powerful overall than a 7900 GTX SLI configuration and even NVIDIA's mammoth Quad SLI." http://www.fragland.net/news.php?id=14912
Imagine what SLI 8800 looks like. More like 8 ps3 graphics combined.

Something that gets released in 2007 are lower end cards? Don't get it.

"Since the G80 is preliminarily targeting the high-end sector, the sources pointed out that Nvidia's forthcoming G84 and G86 GPUs for the entry-level and mid-range segments are likely to play a key role in the GPU market, with the two new GPUs expected to debut in the first quarter of 2007. "
Flagship Card launches first then later down the line the entry level to mid level are filled. It says it directly in your link, thats how its always been...
