So, does anyone know any good (and cheaper) alternatives to photoshop? Nothing super fancy, but good for making my own cute graphics (backgrounds, wallpapers, banners, icons, buttons, headings and etc). I just want to have fun making cute little goodies for k-dramas and other such little obsessions ^.^.

Gimp, good freeware.

If not, Paint Shop Pro isn't a bad PS alternative.

Free alternatives:
GIMP - Multiplatform, kind of complex, if your familiar with Photoshop, then you can download GIMPShop to make GIMP resemble Photoshop. Gimp is probably the best free alternative to Photoshop because it can import plugins from Photoshop, thus you'd be able to follow tutorials for Photoshop pretty much the same way in GIMP.
Paint.net (simple, recommended) - Windows, as simple as MSPaint but has all the features to make it actually useful
Krita - Linux, part of KOffice, simplistic yet powerful

GIMP. i use it. [not that i'm good or anything. T_T] but, it does resemble photoshop, and if you're familiar with ps, then it'll be easy to understand GIMP.
