So finally christmas is coming up
I've been bugging my dad for the past 5months for a new camera and he finally gave in.
Now im stuck with debating on which of these two camera I should get.
Anyone with either of them have some feed back for me?
I have about 2weeks until I can buy the camera, so any help would be great.

canon 30D is better than XT but XT is already an excellent camera. 30D just has some upgrades that XT doesnt have but it shouldnt matter that much unless you are into photography. are you using these for photography? if not, there's not really a point in getting any of these SLRs at all

30D has more manual controls and has a Metal body vs a plastic Rebel Body (So I hear)

what you really should be asking is the 30d or Rebel XTi. but if yur only considering the 30d and xt then okay. i have a 30d and i love it to death. best thing you should do is go down to a camera store and try both of them out. i picked the 30d over the XT main because its a better camera overall and it felt a lot more comfortable in my hands. while holding the XT myknuckles would hit the lens barrel every now and then and my pinky would hang off the end.

the feattures of the XT would probably would suit 90% of people jumping into the photography world and most of those people prolly dont use half of them. And i know someone is gonna mention this sooner or later but the quality of the lens is what makes pictures great, so you can get the XT with a good lens or a 30d with a mediocre lens, thats if you have a set spending limit. otherwise go with the 30d.

I think the photographer is more responsible for that. heh... I can't justify throwing multiple thousands of dollars on glass when I can make some really great shots with my $100 50mm. But ya lenses definately allow you to do different things like.. wide angle or macro.. or telephoto when you're afraid to get close to the subject... so ya stay away from brand-x lenses though.. they're just bad news.

I am the minority here.

I see; thank you for the feedback
I think i shall try them both out sometime this week. I was more aiming toward the XT, because like most said it's for beginners and I wouldn't wanna spend over 1,000 on a product without knowing fully well what I can do with it. I'm also going to look into the whole lens issue. Thank you once again

why not the xti? its not quite the jump to the $1000+ but it is still a tiny upgrade from the xt
